kidney swapping
There is a new procedure called kidney swapping that allows those in need of
a kidney donation to take a proactive approach to finding a donor.

How It Works: Kidney Swapping allows patients who need a kidney to take a pr
oactive approach to find a suitable donor. Often those waiting for a kidney
transplant have friends or family who are willing and able to make a kidney
donation, but have tissue or blood characteristics that are
incompatible and would cause the transplant to be unsuccessful. For instance
, a person may need a donor with Type A blood and have a potential donor who
has Type B blood. Kidney Swap allows people with healthy, willing, yet inc
ompatible donors to meet others who are in the same dilemma and essentially
swap kidneys.

Re: kidney swapping
If Kendall Wyman had given up on living an active life a year and a half ago
, who could have blamed her? The Type 1 diabetic scheduled her week around d
ialysis. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, she'd go into Glendale Adventis
t Medical Center in California for her sessions. The 32-year-old says her do
ctor would ask if she felt better afterward. "Are you insane?" she'd ask, "I
feel like I'm going to throw up."

After each cleansing of the blood, it'd take about 36 hours to recover, leav
ing Wyman with only 12 hours of feeling functional before having to undergo
treatment again. "Nobody should ever have to be on dialysis," she says. "It'
s the most heinous, horrible thing."

Re: kidney swapping
YES, its already accepted today having a donor for kidney. Here in the Phili
ppines it is illegal when you will not undergo some medical exams or not don
e in a hospital. I have a question on this, will it be risky for a person wi
thout a kidney? what could be the disadvantage? Hope to hear from your reply
.

Thanks!
