Oh, Shadow, this was priceless!

Except my Chocolate Lab, Mocha, does "help" me in the bathroom.  She has
discovered that when I'm on the porcelain throne, I'm at exactly the right
height to scratch her all over her back without straining or groaning.
(There is currently a goodly layer of chocolate colored fur on that side of
the bathroom ;@)  My other dog, Dakota, likes to come in when I'm taking a
shower and lie down by the bathtub and watch me.  He doesn't particularly
like being showered himself, so I have no idea why he does this.

To all my friends and correspondents:  sorry I've been pretty much
incommunicado for the last month.  It may not get much better soon.  It's
not my personal health (even when I'm pretty sick, I enjoy being online with
you guys), but rather a tragic and heroic struggle to install Windows XP and
get everything to work again.  Every time I think I've got it set up right,
one of those "automatic updates" Microsoft so kindly furnishes comes and
screws everything up.  So far, I've tried one upgrade install over Win98,
and two clean installs (fdisk, format the whole damn disk, and install WinXP
from scratch).  I thought I was alert enough to do this, but I seem to be
getting stupider and stupider.

I'm about to have to start over (again), and XP hides user files in
different places than I'm used to, so I keep losing things (like about 600
email messages and ALL my message filters).  So if you've emailed me
personally and I haven't responded, please try again!  And pray for me to be
delivered from the grip of the Evil Empire (or at least for the software to
work ;@).
