month long migraine
Hi all

I am happy to have found your group. I am a member of
alt.support.arthritis. My 18 year old daughter has had a migraine that
has lasted for a little over a month. She had a CT done as well as
x-rays of her cervical spine. All was normal, thankfully. Our doc
started her on Relpax after getting the results of the CT and x-rays.
It would take the level of pain down but has not relieved it
completely. Along with (and before starting) the Relpax she takes
Fiorinal with codeine and Soma. She just started on Maxalt yesterday.
Once again, she feels better but her head still hurts. This has been
the pattern for the past month. Days of severe pain scattered among
days with a 5-6 on the pain scale. The lowest she has had for a full
day has been a 3. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thank you
Angela

Re: month long migraine
This is not a typical migraine pattern, although there is a condition
called status migrainosis that might fit this. One would wonder about other
conditions. Has a lumbar puncture been done?

Re: month long migraine
Another thought is a prednisone taper to resolve some of the sterile
inflammation. I hope a neurologist has been consulted.
