I think that therein is the reason I would never succeed in a high flying
job, I just can't waste time on that level.

I particularly liked the insightful:

"Vigorous styles of yoga that include more-advanced poses could potentially
make chronic back pain worse."

A descendant of Einstein perhaps?

Don't think so..
They don't explay the origin of the pain..
"chronic lower backaches" ---? what's that?
just energy blockages?
If so, yoga will remove the blockages, and let the energy flow..
But, after the first layer of blockages are remover, why not
vinyasa?...
Or, there are something more, they are not explaining?

Re: duh..

But I think, that's the problem of the western way to deal with
disesases.
They just evaluate the consequences, not their origin.
So, there are pains, and the origin is?
Any clue?

Re: duh..
yeah but but but
some people need to read this stuff to understand, or need to be reminded.
i, for one, sent it to my 14 yr old daughter who has mild scoliosis and
would rather have me pay for a chiropractor than go to a yoga class. she'll
benefit from seeing that its this mainstream, not just her weird mother
telling her yoga will help.
also, even though i have practiced for 3 yrs, when i threw my back out
earlier this year while out of town. i was engaging in a reckless activity -
i leaned over to place my drink on a table. i was away from all the doctors
and drugs i love, so i fit a short yoga session into my morning and evening
routines. even i was surprised to find that i was fine in a day and a half.

Re: duh..
My understanding of yoga, is that we are treating ourselfs in an
integrated way: all the body together with our soul.

The problem of the western science is that they are treating just a
little part of the body. Just ONE consequence..

By not seeing the origin, they are not able to see that the origin, may
have MANY consequences.

By treating just ONE consequence, they may be damaging the OTHER
consequences, because they are mot able to see them.

It's just like being inside a labyrinth, with no way out..

Re: duh..
Dear moon,

Quite correctly stated that yoga refers to an integrated approach.
Pretty much the only way of avoiding side effects is to allow soothing
energies to heal problems. The energy that cures without damaging is
intelligent, unlike light, fire etc. This mothering enerygy has been
quite talked about and people have created organizations to 'sell' it.

But I do think there is hope in yoga, to achieve side-effect free cures
through the Mothering energy. Lao Tse called it Tao, Yogis call it
Kundalini, the laymen call it the Mothering touch.

Many regards,
a2yogi

moon and sun, ida and pingala

No, It can't be sold..It has to be found, unfolded, like a matrioska
doll, without pretention.. Hard to find, yes, but is free..

Tao is not Kundalini energy. Tao could be called the source of
Kundalini energy but that doesn't encompass the true meaning either.
You could spend 100 years arguing what Tao is on these forums and never
get closer to the truth.

Sorry, I don't mean to flame but it bothers me when people try to
define Tao this way.

The Tao that can be told is not the eternal Tao.
