What I did over Memorial Day Vacation
X-No-Archive: Yes

1. Had a heart attack
2. Rode in an ambulance with the siren on
3. Had an angioplasty
4. Spent a while in ICU
5. Came home alive

It was an amazing experience.

Zoomer missed me - and I missed home.

Now that I'm here I'm going to sleep in my own bed and go to the bathroom
without help and brush my teeth and take an aspirin without asking. Nice as
they were - they sure do take away your personal power.

Night night.

Stop smoking if you do - its really not worth it.
Windy.

Goodness. I'm glad you're ok. Is this your first coronary event?

I wonder if Hallmark makes a card for that.

Perhaps I shouldn't finish these Cheetos Puffs and Salmon Cream Cheese. I
wouldn't want to cause a clog.

There are many things you do every day whenever you want because you can.
You don't realize how many and what until you are completely down for a
count. ;-)

and yeah, aspirin every day. i've been doing that for
> years and now they say i'll live pretty much forever.

They've got me confused about the aspirin thing - apparently you have to
take exactly 375 mil separate and apart from what you would normally take.
If it were just aspirin - hell, I would be in your living forever corner.

i expect no less of
> you, young lady.

You know - that was part of the whole experience. They were all far more
concerned about my living than I was - I was concerned about the pain. And
I think thats true a lot - we are more concerned about how bad it will be
rather than where its going.

I knew what was up with angioplasty - it can cause some problems. So as I
gave some messages to deliever to family, to a friend who was jogging along
with the gurney to the cath lab - I stopped for a moment and told him I was
OK with however it turned out and I was fully prepared. I kept looking for
relatives who had passed - don't they always appear in movies about dying?
Remember Girls on the Side and her brother in the window shade? No one
appeared - so I kind of figured - aside from the rush, I was going to make
it.

Sounds like a full day, or evening!

I'm not a real fan of those ER type shows. They come a little bit too
close to home, so I'll pass on having the RL expirence to measure it
by thank you very much.

Take REALLY good care of yourself.

Best.

it's an anti-coagulant, aka "blood thinner". afaik that's the only reason
for the daily regimen. times i've gone in for surgery, i was told to
completely stop taking it for two weeks leading up to the event. (along
with st. john's wort, which also has anti-coagulant properties. useful to
know.)

I bet.

This would prompt me to get my ducks in a row. I'd clean out my closets and
finally throw out all that old underwear. Pronto.

Call me the bitchy one, but I'm not inclined to go 'oh poor baby' when
she's been a royal cunt for years. I wouldn't have minded if she'd
had a heart attack before and I won't be filled with sudden
camaraderie over it, now.

If she had died, I would not have shed a bitter, melancholy tear,
wishing things had been different, softening her behavior all these
years (or erasing it completely) to participate in a great big weep
fest over what a good person she was inside and how we'll all miss
her.

She's a nasty, manipulative cunt and if she survived the heart attack
it's only because Satan didn't want her down there.
