Light during Meditation
Namaste!

I've been studying Hatha Yoga for 5 years, and recently have started
meditating with my eyes closed regularly. Lately, I've been "seeing" a
light in the top left corner. Has this happened to anyone, and if so, can
anyone shed any "light" on the subject?

Thanks!
M.

You may see many things, they are distractions, that is all.

Could be nothing at all.
If you meditate in the same place regularily, check the layout of your
room. Is the room physically brighter to the left?

here is a humourous story.

about twenty years ago I knew a woman who had been meditating for
about a year.
She started relating experiences of meditating in her room, and
*seeing* lights
all around her, swirling bright lights. She was getting a bit
un-hinged by it
all. I though "cool, shes getting into something big time." I had to
see this,
had to check it out. So I went with her to her house, we did some
meditation.
and there were lots of lights. swirling lights, dancing lights,
bright lights
everywhere.

...and it came to pass that..
the headlights of cars passing on the streets below shone into the
room as they
went by. the same lights reflected into her room off of windows of
houses
across the street, and the same head lights also hit cut-glass
ornaments in her
room, scattering the light into dancing beads around the walls. lots
of light. lots of action. but a very mundain explanation.

Re: Light during Meditation
well i learned so long ago that the mind with the eyes closed should be
completely black but is not yet becomes so as sleep arrives as it
qwiets.

At first closing of the eyes it is filled with specks innumberable of
tiny flashs of light as if the ones attempts would be too qwiet it from
these specks actually bio-chemical activity.

So we drop the chin towards the neck into towards that depression in the
throat neck lay on the side focus our attention between the shoulder
blades rear and go into a nap....perhaps 30-40 seconds till its
black.with practice a few days most all will be under 2 minutes..with
serious effort one can nap 20 minutes fell wonderful.

The key is not to go into a deep sleep or when awakening in short order
one feels tired but to remain about that deep sleep touch it for a few
moments then start so gently awake....the afternoon or anytime aka
nap etc requires some skill as do all naps and is the way .

Meditation means to think contemplation to think over reflection to
remember as all these will not remove but stimulate bio-activity too of
course have tiny flashs of light if eyes are closed.

Now the educated person uses these flashs and much more withthe eyes
closed as an engineer would too use the minds screen as a monitor
creating images to spin around toy with do mathmatics upon before
putting on paper....

The superstitutious person requires professional help first before
learning how to use the eyes closed as they create fantasy worlds dreams
believe unusual aspects of unusual things often found in dimestore books
as inner dream worlds etc phantomaghora (ck sp) things they let these
random flashs specks weave into instead of engineering realistic
obgects..
