Author Question about thiazide diurectics

Last year, I took thiazide diurectics and developed some
serious side effects. Almost all of the electolytes became
below the refererence range on one of those blood tests.
I developed acidosis (aka acid-base balance problems).

I stopped taking thiazide diurectics last year as a result
of the side effects but continue to have problems with
acidosis and other acid-base balance problems.

Do you think that my kidneys may have been permanently
damaged as a result of the thiazide diurectics?

If so, what sort of kidney disease could it be?

Thanks in advance for your help.

There are a number of causes for acidosis, some as simple as taking
too many aspirin. This website may be helpful:

What does your doctor say?

I'll visit the site that you mentioned. He does not appear to think that
it's a problem. My former doctor prescribed pepcid or something like that.
