| Are there any groups specifically for those pre-dialysis or just on
dialysis? Transplant is far in the future planning

Transplant should be in the very near planning, dialysis just keeps you
alive, but you weaken every day

This group supports anyone with kidney failure and deals with all
issues concerning any type of dialysis and kidney transplant. There
is also alt.support.kidney-disease.

| I looked for alt.support.kidney-disease and it doesn't exist (at least that
is what the message stated)

It definitely does exist but your ISP's news server may not carry it.
Not all newsgroups are available on all news servers. It can also be
accessed via Google Groups. Here's a link:

It exists on the Optusnet server in Australia (one of the two best coverage
servers available here) but is completely empty, which suggests there may be
very little traffic. Mind you there are only 92 messages on *this* group
right now...

There is a very good and supportive group that i have been
watching...my mom is on dialysis and I work for a dialysis
company...this group is not related to my job @ Davita, but it has been
very helpful to me and my family. Here is the link:

This is only true if you are not pro-active with regards to your life
and health.
If you go on dialysis, and take on the "woe is me" mentality and then
proceed to do nothing more than keep to your diet, then I agree.
If however, you see dialysis as a necessary inconvenience and nothing
more while you maximise your free time through health and fitness
pursuits, then you can actually eperience a new healthier fitter you.
I am on dialysis now for the third time (after two prior transplants).
I have never been healthier or fitter. Your potential is usually only
limited by your attitude and what you actually want from life.
