New York Times has a story about some doctors who grew new bladders from
the patient's own cells (as in, rejection is not an issue) and implanted
them. Some of the kids have been using the new bladders for several years
already.

The article doesn't say anything about kidneys, and they are a much more
complicated organ, but it's certainly steps in the right direction.
