REP: I'll tell you why. My doctor prescribed FOUR diuretics per day,
taken ALL AT ONE TIME in the morning. Dr. Walser addresses this in
his book. He says if you take a lot split it between am and pm as the
salts will build back up in the off 12 hours. Dr. Walser says this
will mean getting up at night but "that is the price you must pay".
This makes total sense.
Anyone who shuts off all knowledge available to him is very illogical.
One does not have to act on the advice but to ignore it is akin to
wearing blinders.
As far as "pet theory" is concerned, Dr. Walser is NOT alone.
Obviously REP has not even looked at it or the bibliography that goes
on and on. It's like one who HATES Limbaugh yet has never listened to
him.
I posted all that information to HELP users of this group. That
cannot be said of REP. It's his way or NO way. The 1972 law covering
renal failure changed the entire ball game. Now that doctors and
hospitals are guaranteed MONEY, how do you think their decisions will
go? "Follow the Money", REP.
Most doctors now say there are only two treatments for CRF, dialysis
or transplantation, Dr Walser AND OTHERS say there is a third option.
The dietary approach. All he says is that it should be the first line
of defense. Since there is no harm in it, why not? In 6 weeks on it
my creatine and BUN both dropped far more than could be accounted for
by a lab anomaly.
Doctors always right? Gimmee a break.

Sando,
Thanks for your EXCELLENT post. It's the best post that I have ever read
in this newsgroup. I have been trying to write the same things that you
wrote in your post but you done a much better job than I have ever done. I
do believe that all nephrologists should discuss with their predialysis
patients ALL of the treatment options. The patients should be able to
choose which treatment option. If they decide NOT to go on a special
diet--that is their choice and I would NEVER criticize any of my relatives
or friends that made that choice. Doctors are NOT Gods and patients should
be able to play a role in any decisions that are made. When I was a child,
I thought that doctors were like Gods. I now know that doctors are NOT
Gods. Some people in this newsgroup still seem to believe that doctors are
like Gods. They also seem to believe that patients should NOT play a role
in relation to choosing a treatment option. They even get upset with me
for telling patients about the treatment option discussed in Doctor
Walser's excellent book.
