You can't prevent calcium oxalate stones. You can prevent uric acid
stones through a variety of prescription drugs, unless you cannot
tolerate the drugs or are allergic to them, as I am. Then again, I pass
stones every 30-45 days and you pass stones every 30-45 YEARS, so I
don't think you have that much to worry about.

Forget trying to prevent stones with diet, especially if you've just had
one stone in your life. Count your blessings and move on.

Incidentally, kidney stones rarely have anything to with kidney failure.
The chances of you hitting the jackpot and developing a rare and
dangerous struvite stone are super low.
