Jessica,
ESRD (kidney failure) rarely means immediate death. More than likely
it means dialysis which is a means of staying alive. Dialysis is
nothing to fear. It is more of an inconvenience than anything else.

People that advertise their kidneys here are generally never doing so
for altruistic reasons. They want monetary compensation. Even if you
do have the money to buy a kidney, which is illegal in the US and most
other western nations, you'll most likely get taken. Your best bet is
to get on the kidney transplant list as soon as possible. You can
even get on the list prior to going on dialysis.

Talk with your nephrologist. Get a second opinion, too. Death can
come to anyone at any time but you're probably less likely to die from
kidney failure in the near future than you are to are from slipping
and falling in your own bathtub.
