Some interesting posts.

I've already made comments in an earlier thread (or two) with regards
to my experience with dialysis (in particular haemo-dialysis).

I have no had two transplants and the second one failed at the end of
last year requiring me to return to dialysis.

I think one of the reasons I have not experienced the depression I did
last time (when my first transplant failed) is because:
(a) I knew what to expect from dialysis and dietary restrictions (and
that I could still lead a decent lifestyle).
(b) I already knew and was able to appreciate that transplants are not
cure and are not guaranteed (and indeed unlikely) to last forever.

I'm a live thanks to dialysis treatments and achieving my goals thanks
to dialysis treatments.

Diaylsis is inconvenient. You are tied to one spot for four hours (or
for whatever period is relevant to you). But you do have a choice (to
some extent) in terms of what you do during that four hours.

You could:
(a) Catch up on your Zs.
(b) Read a book/magazine/newspaper.
(c) Catch up on your TV viewing.
(d) Watch a movie/DVD.
(e) If you're lucky browse the internet.
(f) Get fit (some centres are equipped with cycling equipment that can
be attached to the chair).
(g) Network/make friends (with the nurses and other patients).
(h) Use your mobile phone (or the portable phone of the dialysis
centre) to catch up with friends.

At the end of the day, your attitude will determine how you utilise
your dialysis time. You can either make the most of it or treat the
experience as a bitter burden. One way is constructive and one way is
not (other than the treatment itself).

I look forward to the day that my dialysis centre has wireless internet
access so I can use my laptop for things other than gaming, reading and
writing.

Keep up the great posts everyone.
