Hi,

Just wondering if someone out there can help me... I am pretty sure I have
failing kidneys, however all my results are relatively normal so far. A
month or so ago I started having less urine volume and my kidneys started
hurting.

I am just wondering what signs to look for to know my kidneys are failing.
Obviously the test results are the only real indicator, but on the other
hand I am sure there are many indicators to tell what stage and how bad it
is.

I've already had some symptoms like weight loss, excessive thrist, vitamin
B12 low, low testosterone, urgency, dripping of urine, some urine
incotinence, incomplete bladder emptying, kidney/flank pain etc... This was
6+ months ago. So far tests as I said are ok, although I feel more and more
problems.

What are the usual complaints you had and at what stages?

Thanks for help..

Dear Nenad,
This may sound rather ironic, but when you begin to lose your fellows,
you actually make more urine, not less.
It seems that when the kindneys start to fail, they go into hyper
activity. I rember that , just before I lost mine, I was peeing every
1/2 hour.

I am sorry to say this, but it actually sounds like you are getting
adult onset diabetes.
PLEASE GO SEE A GOOD DOCTOR (kidneys=nephrologist, diabetes=internist
or pancreatic specialist)
Good luck,
Larry

I'm assuming that you are male (testosterone)?

You could very easily have an infection..
Prostate or kidney .

But all the symptoms which you've just described sound exactly like the
symtoms I had with prostatitis. And with me being diabetic was the main
reason I was constantly thirsty and my weight loss.

I'd be willing to bet that you have (either or possibly both) a prostate
infection and or diabetes (as Shawn suggested).

Try and not worry about something that has yet to be diagnosed.
Make an appointment with a Urologist (and SOON). Or you will drive yourself
to a heart attack from worrying about something you (possibly) have ZERO
reason to be worried about!

Believe me, I have always been psychosomatic about my health. I'd have a
skipped heart beat and rush myself to the E.R. totally convinced I was
having a heart attack, only to find out everything was perfectly normal and
told that most everyone experiences skipped heartbeats from time to time.

Since I read your post-----I will tell what is/has been going on with a
brother, comparing to mother's shut down kidney failure.
I am not sure about my brother's start in his kidney failure but he too
was not urinating as much and still doesn't.
He's on dialysis 3 times a week, as you already know, to clean out the
bad blood so that he can go some.
Mother, on the other hand, she has had jaundice for 2 years or more,
blood in her urine, back to say the least.
I am not sure, I feel that mother has never had her liver and tested to
make sure that a medication has started any damages.
Two weeks ago mother was transferred to a hospital near me that does
specialize in Kidneys.
Both kidneys are completely shut down, cannot unrinate. The liver was
damaged a great deal but now is functioning.
Mother will never be able to urinate ever again on her own, ONLY
dialysis will clean out the blood and take care of the urine before she
gains any weigh due to fluid build up.
If I am wrong on any of his, please feel free to correct my errors. I
too am here to learn more about one's kidneys.
I hope that I was able to help out some wih your question (s).
Barb.
