I was diagnosed as in stage three kidney failure. My doc has put me on
megadoses of vitamin D. I have noticed that my urine is MUCH more frothy on
the vitamins than it ever was before. My busy doc can't see me until the
day after Thanksgiving. Anybody out there have this problem and some
advise?

I'm stage 2 with heavy proteinuria, which can cause frothy-looking
urine. If your edema is markedly worse than it was prior to starting the
vit D supplementation or anything else is much worse than it was, you
might consider asking for an emergency appointment. On the other hand,
if you are noticing anything other than your urine seems to be more
frothy, it may be able to wait the three weeks.

It is possible to take too much vit d, especially if it is a prescribed
formulation (as opposed to an over-the-counter supplement). Some of the
early symptoms of overdosage include increased thirst; increased
urination; metallic taste; muscle pain; itchiness; unusuall tirdedness,
etc. If you have any of these symptoms, it would probably be a good idea
to call your doctor's office right away.

Good luck! I hope it turns out to be nothing serious.
