| Hi there,
Am new to this list...am doing research, and not having much luck...thought
I would try here...
Here's my story...
At the end of last July, found out I was pregnant...(due date Feb 24,
2005)....during the last few weeks of pregnancy, I started having "twitches"
in my groin. Sometimes so much that I would drop to the floor. Didn't
think much of it, thought it might be related to the sciatica that I was
already suffering from.
Feb 23rd, 2005, I was induced. February 24th, 2005, I gave birth to a
healthy baby boy. 8lbs, 2oz. I had an epidural. Several hours later, I
still had numbness (at that time we thought from the epidural), and I was
not able to hold my weight (at all, I dropped when they tried to stand me
up).
At the hospital, they did an MRI to determine that it was not damage from
the Epidural...it was not, they diagnosed me with Femoral Nerve Palsy....and
said it would take days, weeks, months, or years to get better.
I was paralyzed for about a week, and then slowly got so that I could move
my legs, and about 9 days later, was walking with a walker and cane well
enough to go home from the hospital.
I have seen a neurologist a couple of times since being home from the
hospital, and was told I was making progress...however, I have noticed no
change in the past couple of months....and I am starting to notice a distict
discomfort (achey almost), in my groin.....
I'm just wondering if anyone knows anything about this condition, has
experienced it, or could shed any light on anything that I could be doing to
aid in my recovery.
(I am pretty steady on my legs now, although I still get tired really
easily, and my legs threaten to give out) I have numbness in both of my
thighs.
Any knowledge, wisdom, or insight would be greatly appreciated.
Sue
