| If so, can you remember the earliest symptoms?

OK - but why couldn't you run? Shortage of breath, lack of muscle power,
falling over, pain in joints or something else?
I haven't been able to run for anything for years.

Nothing like that, no physical problems. My legs would not move fast.
Over the following years they got slower and slower. These days I can
only walk a few steps if I'm hanging onto something. I have primary
progressive MS.

I was a good runner once.

I hope you don't think I'm being bad mannered, I really am interested.
Are you saying that your legs not being able to move fast wasn't a physical
problem? Was it, then, a neurological problem? I am aware of some of the
causes of MS but I really do want to know more, I understand that there are
different types, causes and effects.
If you don't want to pursue this please don't feel obliged to.

It's a neurological problem. MS is a neurological illness.

The most common type is relapsing remitting MS which sometimes becomes
secondary progressive MS. The other main type is primary progressive
MS. A few other less common types exist.
The causes are unknown.
The effects are many and varied depending which parts of the CNS is
damaged. In my case it's the bit of the brain that controls my legs.
MS can effect any bodily function.

Hmm. Confusing as well as debilitating and painful then!

Yes ... Would you mind if I asked you questions as I think of them? I don't
want to be out of order...

I don't have any pain at all but I know some others do.

No problem. You can send me email or ask in a group. My email address
is valid.
Do you know about the uk.people.support.mult-sclerosis newsgroup? It's
not very busy but it's probably more appropriate than here.
There is also alt.support.mult-sclerosis which is quite busy but has a
lot off topic clutter.

Thank you.

I'll have a look, thanks.

I'm used to that, quite like it in fact, unless it's offensive. I'm
certainly not innocent of going off topic!
Thanks again,

| I was diagnosed with central sleep apnea a few months ago and my symptoms
recently have been varied and worsening.
My doctor has scheduled a blood test, CT and MRI of brain and brain stem.
He doesn't know whats causing my sleep disorder but says that it could be as
simple as stress or MS, which he mentionned specifically.
I checked out a few good sites on MS, and I do seem to follow the MS
pattern.
We shall see over the summer, I guess, what I have.
