Sands of the Sahara or DLK can make you go blind. This is not just a
little nuisance he had for a little while. His episode may have left
behind some permanent haze, even if it is now 'cleared up', which of
course the surgeon wouldn't mention to the patient.
Sure, I know patients with some haze from 'a little DLK that cleared
up'. It's all eye damage, and that flap is vulnerable to late DLK for
life. Nice, huh?
To find out if you have haze from a previous bout of DLK go to ANOTHER
surgeon, tell him you had your surgery in Canada and then ask the
question 'Do I have haze'. Under these conditions you MAY get an honest
answer out of the surgeon.
There are so many ways you lose visual quality with refractive surgery.
