Author follow up 33 months after lasik

I haven't looked at this newsgroup for quite a while. I had custom
cornea done in Jan 2004, and a conventional enhancement done in Jan
2005 to remove residual astigmatism in my right eye. Although there
were problems at first, including some fuzzy spots in my left eye, due
to skin oil under the flap (long gone) and sands of sahara after the
enhancement (cleared after 2 weeks of treatment with eyedrops), the end
result is great. I have 20/16 vision in both eyes, I rarely use
eyedrops for dry eyes, and my night vision is just fine. All in all, I
am very glad that I had lasik done, I wore glasses and contacts for
over 40 years. I used to have astigmatism in both eyes, couldn't find a
contact lens that worked well for it. I just thought I'd report back to
let you know. I see the usual suspects are still here, Glenn, Ragnar,
and probably Sandy or whatever her name was. Is that guy that wants you
to stare at the sun still here also? Enjoy!

Have a nice life,
Dave

Before Ace posts this.. I better warn you of something before he does.
You may think your 20/16 vision is good.. but you are still going to
DIE within the next 60 years. Your skin will wrinkle, your dog will
have to be euthanized, and your kids will move away.. all because you
had lasik done!

That's good to hear that things are going well for you visually.

Stay with this thread as the flappies will try to convince you that
your eyeballs will fall out long before you're done with them.

Congrats on getting through LASIK without tragedy. Although DLK (sands
of the sahara) IS fairly serious.

Do read The LASIK Report at http://theLASIKreport.com (It will remind
you to take good care of your flap) and make sure you get a full copy
of your charts including color scans for your home medical records.

Best of luck to you!

Can I call it or what?

Hey knownothing, he said that the "sands of sahara" condition has long
been cleared up, or is it that you can't read english?

Dave, Im glad your lasik outcome is to your satisfaction. If I can ask
(and Im not being a shit XXX or anything) did you have dayglare, ghost
vision, starbursts and halos? If so, when did they eventually go away?

Tomorrow, I will be 1 month post op and Im not doing so good. Im sort
of
caught in the middle of the debate on Lasik. Two of my sisters have
had it and they are doing just fine, although one did have to have a
"touch up". At this point, Im damn sorry I had it done.

Thanks for any info you can give Dave.

It's still early in the healing for you. If you had the intralase
flap, what you are experiencing is fairly common. If you were a high
myope it will take longer to settle down.
The biggest thing is that you don't let ANYONE on the internet diagnose
you, they never met you.
To put your mind at ease, don't wait for an appointment to see your
doc, go in and see him/her.
I know several people where it took a few months for them to heal and
they are very happy now. Some even had the "wow" effect, where they
woke one day and, bam, clear as a bell.
