One other thing I feel has made my Lasik procedure a subjective success
is that I stopped wearing glasses and contacts all together for almost
a year prior. I only wore a reduced prescription for driving. I think
this coniditoned me to not be so critical after the procedure was done.
Corrective lenses can give us such clear and crisp vision that our
expectations of a "successful" Lasik outcome becomes convoluted from
the enhanced vision created by artifical means.

So I had nothing to really compare my outcome to excpet for my natural
myopic blur. Granted, I feel I see just fine and my post-op visits have
all been without incidence.

And the greatest feeling of all after my Lasik experience was placing
my glasses on the ground and stomping the shit out of them. I felt like
I tossed free the shackles that were visually imprisoning me. Anyone
that comes on this board with an agenda to try and scare people from
considering Lasik without any really basis for their arguements should
be ashmed of themselves. My advice is research, ask questions from
people you trust that have epxerienced, shop around and get several
opinions, have a thorough exam to make sure there are no visual or
medical contraindications, and make sure your expectations are
realistic pertaining to your individual case.
