Is it true,I've read it,that doctors very rarely choose lasik to treat
their own eyes because they usually prefer glasses?????????

My surgeon had LASIK and performed it on his own wife.

The doctor I did not hire wore glasses and said he didn't have LASIK
because of the amount of paperwork required to be a doctor. LOL.

According to a recent poll of members of a large ophthalmic
organization, the rate of ophthalmologists who have had refractive
surgery is about three times the rate of the general public.

A lot of the staff at the clinic where I had mine done have had it. My
GP has had RS too but he went for Lasek because he is pretty sporty.

Can anyone name a LASIK surgeon who has had LASIK within the past year,
or has performed LASIK on a first degree relative in the past year?

So many problems with LASIK have surfaced that it is unlikely that
surgeons will continue to have this surgery on themselves *at all*.

There was an employee in the office of my surgeon who could no longer
drive at night after LASIK, another local surgeon did LASIK on an
employee who ended up with floaters and dry eye to the extent that she
suffered from taking cold medicine a YEAR after her surgery. My local
Optometrist must wear plugs to manage his LASIK-induced dry eye.
My dental hygenist's vision has regressed after her LASIK. A secretary
in my department at work has severe post-LASIK complications. My
hairdresser has LASIK dry eye and damaged nerves in her eyelid from her
surgery.

If anyone can find a LASIK surgeon who decided that this procedure was
safe and effective enough for his or her own eyes IN THE PAST YEAR, it
would certainly be amazing.

I'm not surprised that early on surgeons had LASIK at a higher rate
than the general population because they had access. But now that they
KNOW better... things seem do be different, don't they?

Er, hey stupid, the ones who have had lasik don't need to keep having
it every year.

Can anyone name a flappie who hasn't whined in the last five minutes?

It may suprise you but not that many people regulalry hang out with
their surgeons and their colleagues. I, for one, have met precisely one
Lasik surgeon and the conversation was rather focussed on the task in
hand.

Surgeons tend to revolve in country and golf club circles and not in the
working class bar that I frequent.
