what are those? I have them-they look like dirty spots on windows. they
move along with my eyes when I look right and left. I've always had them
but I think now either they are worse or I'm just noticing more....any
ideas?

Probably floaters - my mum used to have them. There's not much you can
do about it but get it checked out because in very rare cases it could
be a precursor to a detached retina. Unlikely though.

The spots don't flash and shimmer do they? That would be more like a
visual migraine.

Bad luck. I don't think there's much that can be done for those. Paint
your walls spotty and you might not notice them so much ;-)

What you describe sound like floaters.

Floaters are caused by posterior vitreous detachment, the separation of
the vitreous, or 'jelly' part of the eye from the retina. When this
happens, little bits of debris are pulled up and float around in your
vitreous. These are known as 'floaters'. It is believed that the
tremendous pressures generated by the suction ring and perhaps shock
waves from the laser are responsible for the high rate of posterior
vitrous detachment after LASIK.

See the excerpt from the article below, which was published in the
journal Ophthalmology.

Almost every lasik patient ends up with junk under the flap... from
metal debris, to glove powder, to plastic paricles and meibomian gland
secretions. With the flap held down by surface tension, however, this
'junk' is less free to move and isn't observed by the patient as a
floating object. That is not to say that junk under the flap does not
contribute to decreased visual quality, and perhaps in some cases, eye
pain.

13% of post-LASIK eyes have posterior vitreous detachment!
And 24% of high myopes have posterior vitreous detachment after LASIK!

Effect of microkeratome suction during LASIK on ocular structures.
Mirshahi A, Kohnen T.

Excerpt:

Luna et al. reported the development of PVD after LASIK with an
incidence
of 2% in a group of 50 patients with low myopia (1.25 to 3.5 D) and 24%
in a group of 50 patients with high myopia (6 to 10 D). Considering the
data from the 100 eyes, this corresponds to 13%; thus, there is not a
great deal of difference between our results and the data in the
literature.
