| LASIK At Home - *** WARNING ***
DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME!!!
I've become aware of a kit you can puchase online to do your own LASIK!
*** IT IS A HOAX!!! ***
The ad states:
"Affordable In-Home LASIK Surgery You Can Do Yourself! In the past,
LASIK surgery was an expensive procedure that could only be performed
by skilled professionals in a doctor's office or eye clinic. Often
costing upwards of $1000 per eye and almost never covered by insurance,
Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis (LASIK) was beyond the reach of
most Americans."
It further states:
LASIK@Home is 100% safe, but is only possible with the Scal-Pal=99
laser. Do not try this with any other device.
The claim states the laser was manufactured by a company, which does
not exist!
The url: http://www.lasikathome.com/index.html seems authentic enough.
The order link for the proposed device at $99.95 is a broken link,
which does not allow you to purchase it, but you can order the mug,
cap, or t-shirt.
The ad I also found out was first discovered APRIL 1, 2006. How's that
for an APRIL FOOLS joke?!?
If your choice is to have LASIK, PLEASE seek a medical professional for
a consultation to see if you are a candidate!

| Yes, it is a hoax, but it is a very well written and downright funny
hoax if you know the industry very well. Somebody will make a bundle
off of the AdSense.

| I find it funny that anyone even for a moment think that "lasik at
home" was a real thing, other than the "flappies" of course.

| Whoops, my bad. The LME crowd believes it. Phyllis is at the top of the
"I don't think it's a spoof" list.
BTW, Phyllis's eyes hurt.

| Dom sounds to me like you are against lasik at all. You should keep
your anger in perspective. The Doctor screwed up your eyes not the
procedure. Why are you playing games with peoples minds? The anger I
see in your words...Millions of people out there have no complications
due to their lasik procedure. Not saying that your issue isn't bad. IT
IS BAD. But that is due to your doctor's ineptitude., not to the lasik
procedure.
