Hi All:

I received an email today from a news anchor out of the Chicago area
that is looking for
post Lasik patients like us, that want to tell our story.

Could you please take a moment out of your busy day to give him a quick
paragraph and tell
him your story about why you feel that your doctor "botched your
eyes."

His info is below:
DVSavini@cbs.com

Good luck, hang tight, I know there are hopeful solutions coming...stay
hopeful!!

Very interesting. I'm in Chicago. I just might have to contact Dave.

Apparently he's already got a slant on this, if he's only looking for
'botched eyes'.

Maybe he needs a counter point.

Forgot to give you all the complete e mail address:
DVSavini@cbs.com
Or maybe your doctor did not botch your eyes and all of a sudden 4
years later your vision has regressed and you have eyes drier than the
Sahara desert.
Maybe it was not your doctor, but the machine, the technicians, the
mixed up paperwork or the actual procedure itself that is no good.

Or maybe when you were leaving the LASIK center a great big crazy orange
monster with spiky hair swooped down out of the sky and fogged up your
corneas permanently with its vile breath.

Or maybe we should all contact this reporter regardless of our outcomes,
since as you say, we are all damaged and it's only a matter of time that
awful complications will rear their ugly heads like the orange monster.
Aren't we all "Lasik Complications"?

A counter point would be good. I grew up believing that there were
usually 2 or 3 sides to a story. My side, your side and the truth
somewhere in between. What is the saying that "perception is reality".
What do doctors perceive as good results? What do patients perceive
as good results? I am really happy and somewhat jealous that your lasik
went well, but I hope that it stays that way for the rest of your life,
because as we all know, no one guarantees us tomorrow. Being one of
the unfortunates, basically because my doctor did not tell me the
complete truth even when I asked questions, you cannot imagine what I
have gone thru and how I feel. And this also gives me an opportunity
to complete the e-mail address again :
it is DVSavini at CBS.com. I personally know approximately 12
people who had lasik, with the one having it the longest 5 years and
the one having it the shortest 2 months. OF these 12 people, 7 are
having problems or beginning to have problems. The 7 with the longest
time since they had their surgery. I just pray that this trend does not
continue. Thanks for your idea.

You supposedly had a good lasik outcome. I had a terrible one. Yet
you are so mean, vicious and angry at the world. I feel so sorry for
you.

You're right. I apologize for my last posting. I have been influenced by
the mean-spiritedness going on in this group and responded recklessly.
I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings or belittled your problems. It was
wrong of me to do so. I'm really not a mean person and I'm sorry I come
off that way. My apologies.

I extend my consolences for those with bad outcomes. What kind of long
term problems are they having? Did any of the 7 have a good lasik
experience short term? Half the people having problems with lasik is
very poor odds. I made a thread quoting someone who said a third of
people arent happy about their lasik experience or will not be happy
long term. Those procontents and surgeons argue only 3 to 5% are
unhappy with their lasik. I guess if you count all those in denial or
those not 100% happy with lasik but prefer the problems of lasik over
the problems of glasses. I know this lady in person who ended only
20/30 to 20/40 after lasik with poor night vision and probably a
residual refractive error(myopia, astigmastim) and lots of induced
aberrations. Yet shes still glad she got lasik! She must not be picky
and hates glasses so much even the poor vision after lasik was
preferable over glasses!

Lasik Complications doesn't need an apology. L.C. needs a
psychiatrist.

I've very sorry to hear your situation was not a good one. It happens. I
don't deny that. And that needs to be told and your experience shared.

But I do have a problem with the zealots on either side of any issue. Like
you said, there is always something in between.

LASIK is an easy target of the newsies. As is anything negative.
Sensationalism sells.

I'm sure what this guy is looking for is a story for the up coming May
sweeps weeks. They've got to pump up the ratings. And that station here in
Chicago is dead last in all the ratings.

Too many people here refuse to listen to the other point of view. And that's
on both sides of the issue.

So for this reporter to be only seeking out negative feedback is just plain
wrong.

Good luck with your situation. I hope some day things work out for you.
