CRSQA surgeon George Waring wears GLASSES!

What a scandal! With all the available technology and his access to
supposedly the best surgeons and equipment in the industry (???) George
Waring has chosen to keep his glasses.

Perhaps only the smarter surgeons who know what corneal refractive
surgery really does to the eye avoid the very surgery they perform and
promote.

The 'glasses test' could be considered an IQ test for the refractive
surgeon (was he stupid enough to do this to himself/relatives/office
staff???)

However, it is easier to forgive a refractive surgeon for stupidity
than for performing a surgery he knows to be harmful to the virgin eyes
of the general public.

We would love to hear an explanation from Dr. Waring about those
glasses. For a picture see:

Or they know when they are not a "perfect candidate."

Surgeons still wearing glasses have many reasons and excuses but some
of them do get lasik even if its not in their best interest in order
not to have a double standard, others wear contacts or take their
glasses off

"In order not to have a double standard'???? LOL

that's ridiculous. They have LASIK because they want its benefits.

Just how many diehard glasses-wearing LASIK surgeons do you know pretend
to have had LASIK by wearing contacts or taking their glasses off at
work just to impress?

How do you come up with this? You live in such a fantasy world. Must be
nice to invent facts and scenarios when they are useful to you.

C'mon, you really can't be this stupid, can you?

According to the survey of ophthalmologists conducted by Dr. Leaming
for ASCRS, a significantly larger portion of the ophthalmic community
have had refractive surgery than of the general population. That does
not mean, however, that every refractive surgeon is an appropriate
candidate for refractive surgery.

.... No doubt you meant to add as a disclaimer that the ASCRS annual
survey is not a scientific study but a self-selecting survey where any
doctor who doesn't want to answer a question simply doesn't.

That is correct. Several thousand questionnaires are mailed to ASCRS
members. This would be retina specialists, cataract surgeons, ocular
plastics, and refractive surgeons. Usually between 11% and 23%
respond. I do not know if there is a greater or lesser representation
of refractive surgeons in the bunch. Of those who responded, a
significantly greater percentage than the general population have had
refractive surgery.

That should not be surprising. Physicians, as a general rule, have
greater disposable income, ophthalmologists of all types would have
detailed information about refractive surgery all around them, and
ophthalmologists would likely know the better refractive surgeon(s) to
select.

This above answer speaks volumes why so many surgeons themselves are
getting lasik. They know the risks and problems of lasik and have seen
patients with complications. But they know patient confidence drops if
their own lasik surgeon sticks with glasses. Its like someone preaching
how good their cooking is yet he has never ate what he cooked!

This must be a really good article, as you posted it 4 times. Maybe you
have a quarter of the intellegence of everyone else here, as the rest
of us only need to post once.
