It appears from the documents published by Dominic Morgan
at http://www.lasiksucks4u.com/images/hansondocs.pdf that others, and
at least one court, believe Brent Hanson of LasikFraud.com is a danger
to surgeons and those who associate with surgeons.

A Texas judge ordered an injunction against Hanson because of threats
of physical violence against Dallas Lasik surgeon William Boothe, MD.

As a part of a settlement agreement in a defamation action brought
against Brent Hanson by William Boothe, MD, Dr. Boothe required - and
Hanson agreed - that Hanson must stay at least 500 feet away from
Boothe, his family, his staff, his office, his home, and even from his
lawyers.

According to actions by the Texas court and Hanson's own agreement to
the terms of settlement, Brent Hanson is perceived to be violent and
does threaten surgeons.

Threats of violence are NEVER OK, but especially against family and
staff! What could they have possibly done to have been put in this
situation? Personally, I would be terrified. As the wife of a
policeman, it is always in the back of my mind that maybe my husband
will arrest someone who then decides that his family is fair game. That
is why most police have silent telephone numbers. I would be interested
to hear Brent's explanation as to why this order was granted.

Don't expect any explanations from Brent Hanson of LasikFraud.com
anytime soon.

I agree that a threat of violence is never appropriate. Unfortunately
the documents published by Dom Morgan do not provide details of
exactly what were the perceived threats, but the language of the
settlement specifies enticing others to carry out physical harm to Dr.
Boothe.

Keep in mind that Dr. Boothe did not do Hanson's surgery(s) and didn't
even accept him as a patient. When a TLC doctor does provide surgery
to Hanson, he creates anti-TLC websites. When a doctor does not
provide surgery to Hanson, a court has to make an injunction to keep
Hanson 500 feet away from the doctor.

I'd say that right now you are probably glad that you live in
Australia, Linda.

So what is the actual grievance with Dr Boothe? I am sure that it's
been posted here before, but so many doctors get slammed on this NG,
that I forget what each one is supposed to have done. As far as living
in Australia goes, Lasik is very uncommon here. You never really hear
anything bad about the procedure. I have met less than 10 people who
have had Lasik. Usually they tell me about it when they find out that I
have had it also. There is no price cutting here. The standard price is
about $2500.00 per eye. This includes all follow ups and a lifetime of
enhancements if needed. Anyway, I'm glad I live in Australia. I don't
know if you have ever been here, but it's a fantastic place.

Linda

According to documents published by Dominic Morgan
at http://www.lasiksucks4u.com/images/hansondocs.pdf
Dr. Boothe noticed that Ariel Berschadsky of LasikInfoCenter.com had
published information about a malpractice case against him on his
website. Boothe asked Berschadsky to remove the offending material,
and Berschadsky refused. Boothe then requested at least some balance,
as Dr. Boothe's suit was the only one on Berschadsky's website
involving a north Texas refractive surgeon.

According to the documents, Berschadsky agreed to review and possibly
publish malpractice information from other Dallas area refractive
surgeons, including the Dallas Lasik surgeon that Hanson currently
uses for care.

Brent Hanson of LasikFraud.com and Ariel Berschadsky of
LasikInfoCenter.com are "buddies" who have collaborated (conspired?)
before. It appears that Berschadsky told Hanson about Dr. Boothe's
request and efforts to provide the malpractice information of other
doctors - including Hanson's doctor - on Berschadsky's website.

Brent Hanson states in the documents that he began "attacking" Dr.
Boothe with postings in this newsgroup, on Hanson's LasikFraud.com
website, and on new websites specifically targeting Boothe, in some
twisted attempt to protect his own doctor.

Boothe sued for defamation and the Texas court issued an injunctive
order against Hanson being anywhere near Boothe, apparently due to
perceived threats of violence against Boothe from Hanson.

At least, this is what the documents say. Since many of the documents
are Hanson's statements, I personally believe that the actual truth
may be somewhat different.
