| "Second, by what standard could you, a naive child who believes
everything he reads"
The problem is no one knows what to believe. Some claims sound
reasonable, others like this guy(and another) who says hes seeing 20/5
after lasik are absurd. Nearly all of the 20/10 claims are very hard to
believe unless he was seeing as good or better than that before lasik.
I have had some of what I believed debunked by facts. I used to believe
the hype that lasik gives nearly everyone 20/20 vision and many people
20/15 and 20/10 so I was thinking great people can get lasik and have
supervision and see much better than they ever had. This unfortunately
is far from the truth. The reality is worse vision than what you had
with corrective lenses but there are people who will make all sorts of
claims. I have to seperate fact with fiction.
"Talking to people online is no more a valid information-gathering tool
in this context than pulling the paper fortune out of an origami
cookie."
It gives me a personal perspective on anything and I can put their
opinion to use.
"Go get real world eye exam with a real world optometrist"
I recently got one from an ophthamologist
"but NOBODY knows all there is to know - there is so
more to read than any one person can completely digest."
Entirely true and something im still learning as well about any other
topics. I probably have learned over the internet as much as ive
learned in some classes in school!
"or no link or evidence
at all (Ragnar, SErebel)"
I havent seen links from some people only what they said which can be
taken with a grain of salt. I wont be rude and call anyone liars, just
remain skeptical.
"Ace, I actually think you need to see an Opthalmologist - not an
Optometrist..."
Which is what I did and heres my threads on it:

"It really is a good idea to determine the root cause of your less than
20/20 vision. It will be good for you psychologically."
Its not something I lose sleep over, just something that got me curious
now that it was mentioned. I have done research on it and read that
more than 25% of people arent corrected to 20/20, not even with
contacts which dont minify. I was tested at 20/25(OS) and 20/30(OD) and
now im totally satisfied with the left eye. I would need to be
(somewhat)better than 20/20 in order to see 20/20 because of spectacle
minification. I can walk closer to any eyechart and then see 20/20(or
more like 16/20) Yes its possible to be 20/20 with minification but
then they have optics capable of better than 20/20. The right eye is a
bit of a concern though. I have shown my topography to many people and
optometrists and its concensus that I have some irregularities,
astigmastims and aberrations, especially in the right eye. Theres about
a diopter of irregular astigmastim in the center of my right eye and
3/4 of it located below(inferorally) and to the right of my right eye.
Theres two options, wavefront glasses($300) and RGP contacts($300 pair
pair) Right now im seeing fine with conventional glasses, especially
since the 20/25 left eye is dormant. I do have a problem with
pseudomyopia and my ophthamologist actually believes the best glassses
is not always the strongest ones. If I wear my strongest glasses I wont
see a thing from near and after a while, things in the distance start
to blur and I get eyestrain. I am much happier with glasses that
slightly undercorrect my distance vision stays constant(actually
improved over time) and its much easier to see from closer ranges.
I am young(but not that young) and im just still learning, I have so
much to learn, theres so much I dont know but im doing my best to gain
knowlege
