By the way.. this one slipped through the cracks...

| In LVI's ads for their low priced LASIK, they specify that the low
cost procedure is only done on their NIDEK laser and that if you want
the VISX laser, it costs considerably more. They don't do LASIK on
the NIDEK laser.. they only use the NIDEK for PRK. Which means those
low prices are for PRK, not LASIK. Which is definitely false
advertising.
If you go to a restaurant and ordered a $20 prime rib from the menu
and they serve you hamburger instead.. you wouldn't be happy.
Another way to look at it.. if that prime rib was microwaved instead
of roasted, you wouldn't be happy.
If someone bought some low cost jewlery that was supposed to be solid
gold with diamonds.. and turned out to be gold plated silver with a
synthetic gem stone.. one would be very unhappy.
When you grease the palms of the right government officials, you can
do whatever you want though. "Oh? you contributed $50,000 to my
re-election campaign? hmm I think these complaints we have about you
are trivial and we don't have time to investigate them..."

| I am not the expert on laser to machines.
But
For short-sightedness, even old model Nidek EC5000 does not concede
Visx laser (but visx laser more universal).
It seems for the moderate short-sightedness nidek laser gives the best
quality of sight among other machines.
For the moderate short-sightedness nidek laser it is very adequate and
under very low price
New models Nidek ("navex") have a lot of improvement, but it seems is
not accessible in usa.
On web site http://lasikvisioninstitute.com/ hangs =D0=BE=D0=B1=D1=8C=D0=B2=
=D0=BB=D0=B5=D0=BD=D0=B8=D0=B5:
LASIK starting at 299 $
LASIK NO PRK! Is correctly???

| It is unfortunate that Nidek has not achieved FDA approval of its
Navex excimer laser.

| You should not be bargin shopping on your eyes, period. Low price
lasers is just asking for trouble. You want the best for your eyes and
this is your $5000 leading-edge intralase wavefront laser. Any less and
youd be doing your eyes a disservice. Do things right or dont do it at
all. If you want to be cheap, stick with glasses

I don't have exact numbers, but most assuredly a larger percentage
than the general population of refractive surgeons. That really is not
surprising. Ours is a rather rarified group that includes researchers,
manufacturer consultants, and innovative types. It would be expected
that these doctors would have advanced technology.

| That wasn't quite my point... it isn't even a matter of bargain
shopping for LASIK... LVI is vigorously advertising LASIK $299 (or in
some regions $399) but that price is actually for PRK.. not LASIK.
If you ordered a Ferrari and get delivered a Chevette... there is a
problem. Order champagne and get a Pepsi.. another problem.
As for wavefront.. the wavefront patterns are not advantageous for
quite a few people.. so traditional LASIK is better for them.

| The truth is you wont get any laser surgury for $299, LVI was audited
and of the hundreds of people who got laser surgury, their records show
only two people got the $299 per eye deal. Besides its a moot point,
you dont bargin shop when it comes to your eyes. If one doesnt qualify
for wavefront lasik, he probably should not get any surgury because he
will get more of those "lovely" aberrations. Tradational lasik induces
much more aberrations than wavefront lasik on average.

| It's not a moot point... they are still running those ads.
White a handful of people got PRK done cheap at LVI, my understanding
is that not one person has ever gotten LASIK done at LVI for $299 -
even though the ads say LASIK $299 in 2 inch high letters in the
Sunday comics section.

This is a must read on eye health and maintainance. You may or may not be
affected , but you might be shocked!
Please excuse the interruption , but I thought you may be interested to know
what may be causing all kinds of health problems for yourself or for your
loved ones. I can't seem to get it through to my wife's brain about this
vital health issue, Now she is always saying she is having trouble with her
vision. Gee, I wonder why? I am so pissed off right now, I really want to
slap some sense into her. She has been feeding this poison to my four
children for years after I asked her not too, so you can see why I said what
I said previously, but I would never hit my wife. Why are people ignore what
science brings to are attention about health issues. I am really upset, but
I hope this helps you....since I can't get through to my wife of 16
years.....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
