| I am not lying. The accusations of malfunctioning lasers didn't come
up until after Alcon started collection efforts. I have talked with
the medical director of the leasing company and know this to be one of
the more important issues. All doctors continued to use the Alcon
lasers up to the point Alcon pulled the plug for nonpayment.
There are many reasons the number of retreats on Alcon lasers may seem
high. One is that when an Alcon laser is used to correct something a
different laser screwed-up, it is officially counted as a retreatment.
Use a little common sense. If there were all these malfunctioning
lasers why are there not a bunch of damaged patients suing everyone in
sight? Tens of thousands of patients have had surgery with the Alcon
laser (including me, BTW). Where are the harmed patients? If the
lasers were unreliable, why would all these other doctors (who have
been paying their royalties on time) continue to use their lasers?
I don't have answers to these questions and I'm sure the litigation
will eventually sort it all out, but the accusations don't seem to
hold up to simple logic.
