Author Can corneas be TOO THICK for LASIK??

I went to two different surgery centers and they both told me they
WOULD do surgery on me, even though my corneas are over 650 microns
thick. I read your corneas have to be at least 500 microns thick for
LASIK -- and 650 can be too thick.

They both said I did NOT have Fuchs Corneal Dystrophy.

First surgeon said he would do LASIK, but would NOT use IntraLase, he
would only use a microkerotome.

Second surgeon said he would ONLY do PRK or LASEK, not LASIK.

Both said wavefront is just marketing hype but they would do it if I
insisted and take the extra money, even though they think it is a
waste.

My eyes are otherwise quite healthy, and are at -2.25 and -2.50. I am
40.

Any ideas would be MUCH appreciated!!

Find a good INTACS surgeon and look into this as an option. You may be
an ideal candidate. Wiz

Your corneas are not too thick for lasik. They probably would prefer to
do PRK or lasek because you have a small refractive error. For your
script, wavefront would probably make no difference either.

Where did you read that corneas can be too thick? Never heard that
one. 650 is great.
I supposed that 6500 would be too thick though! I don't think that
condition ever happens though.
