It's true that some people shouldn't have RS.

One of the topics on LME BB is about hyperoptic shift after RK.
While the thread moves on rather normally, today someone named "Cookie"
chimes in (she had RK): "how do these slash for cash surgeons get away
with it ? I am not dumb, but I honestly thought I had LASER SURGERY
until I looked into it when the problems started-that is how much
information I was given."

She had RK, how on Earth can you think you are having laser surgery?
She only looked into it when problems started.

What a friggin moron. This tells a lot how the malcontents got started.

Read her 7/18 post where she states she had RK in London in 2000.

Come to think of it, it probably was PRK and she thought she was having
lasik.
But back to my first post, she's not the brightest bulb in the lamp.

There are still a couple of clowns in the UK doing RK and getting away
with it. She may have seen one of them????

I don't know who did this patient's RK, but one of those "clowns" who
still to this day says RK (although he euphemistically calls it
"incisional microsurgery is superior to LASIK is William Jory, MD.
If the name is familiar, it is probably because Jory is often brought
up by the anti-LASIK zealots because of Jory's often expressed dislike
of LASIK.

Here we have WizKid espousing Jory's information:
http://makeashorterlink.com/?K1E02197B

Wavefront Information jumps on the
if-Jory-hates-Lasik-then-I-like-Jory bandwagon.
http://makeashorterlink.com/?W2311697B

Of course, Keller is not far behind:
http://makeashorterlink.com/?W2612397B

Jory apologist Rebecca gives her "he really doesn't do that much RK
anyway" take.
http://makeashorterlink.com/?P2815397B

Lasik Advocate With Flap Melt chimes in citing Jory's totally debunked
theories about vision after excimer laser refractive surgery:
http://makeashorterlink.com/?P1A13297B

Going all the way back to 2000, someone named "so_there" took Brandy
Alexandre (remember her? she is the porn star who frequented here) to
task, using Jory's report.
http://makeashorterlink.com/?H2E15297B

Then there was "Mister Magoo" who seemed to be thrilled to copy Jory's
report.
http://makeashorterlink.com/?U2325297B

And of course, you have Ariel Berschadsky, the malpractice attorney
who runs an anti-LASIK website, using Jory as justification for part
of his infamous
http://makeashorterlink.com/?C3122197B

I honestly believe that if Jack the Ripper came out against LASIK,
these anti-LASIK zealots would claim; "an authority widely recognized
as an expert in the reduction of prostitution has claimed LASIK is bad
for you".

For some, the only thing that is important is that you say you are
against LASIK. If you do, all else is forgiven, ignored, or apologized
away.

little known fact about Jack the Ripper: In old London, his killing
spree was not about prostitutes, it was female lasik surgeons. he
claimed his vision was destroyed by RS and was merely out getting
revenge. This whole thing would never have happened if Keller's site
were available in London at the time.

That is incredible. And who is still doing RK?
It sounds like cookie is a fiction writer...

And RK isn't bad either. It's got it's uses. LASIK is almost always
the better option though.
My brother and his wife both had RK done, and they are both very happy
with it.

I thought Jack the Ripper was a Lasik surgeon, but just not a good one.
His 1880's laser was a scalpel and he had a bit of Parkinson's and
tended to miss the cornea a bit.

He also preferred girls as they didn't winge about the pain as much.

RK is still done in poor countries and in certain situations where
LASIK isn't appropriate (which is very very rare)
RK can be used to reduce astigmatism

The idiot who was originally scheduled to do my LVI surgery but didn't
show up was still patenting new RK blades as recently as 2002. He
was the idiot who was going to do monofocal IOL's on me.

Jack the ripper would have made an excellent modern-day LASIK surgeon. He
has MUCH in common with today's LASIK surgeons, including a complete selfish
disregard for human health and well-being. To know that LASIK damage is
universal and
to do it anyway for CASH is MALPRACTICE.

That's why patients call LASIK surgeons BUTCHERS, I suppose.

I wonder how much Ripper's clinic charges per eye. How do you equate RS
for cash malpractice? MOST CALL IT CAPITALISM.
