It's just a matter of degree, and when they manifest.

Ex Vivo Confocal Microscopy of Human LASIK Corneas with Histologic and
Ultrastructural Correlation

Ophthalmology
Volume 112, Issue 4 , April 2005, Pages 634-644

Excerpts from the full text:

"All corneas (n = 22) had focal areas of basal epithelial cell hypertrophic
elongation on the surface epithelium of the flap in valleys produced by
undulations of the underlying Bowman's layer (Fig 5B), whereas many corneas
had microscopic foci or islands of epithelial cells in the scar."

"Some corneas additionally had empty spaces in the scar filled with foreign
material suspicious for plastic particles22 or had microscopic (i.e., 1-2
cells) epithelial cell implantation in the scar (Fig 6C, D). The implanted
epithelial cells varied in appearance from intact to degenerating, or even
necrotic in some cases."

"... the predominant permanent interface particles after LASIK (vacuoles in
keratocytes and implanted epithelial cells) seem to be present universally
in all corneas that have had LASIK..."

You forgot the obvious complication, people can see.

Well, post-LASIKs typically lose visual quality and some have been rendered
legally blind. And some are in constant pain for life.

I read on one forum that having realistic expectations about LASIK meant
seeing worse
with glasses or contacts than before LASIK with glasses or contacts.

Reading forums and looking at reality are two entirely different
things.

SErebel

Fernando

Then I heard the same from individuals after LASIK- that the reality of
their lives is that they see worse after LASIK with glasses or contacts then
they did before LASIK with glasses or contacts. I live this reality every
day myself and I hate it. I would give anything to go back to the day I had
LASIK - and NOT have it. Rip up that consent form and walk out with healty
eyes and excellent corrected vision. Instead I have horrible vision and
daily discomfort/pain from dry eye.

Why don't you get a life?

I understand from previous posts that your vision is quite bad. Your corneas
are so thin that you get blurry vision from sleeping on a pillow, you have
to wear plugs from the dry eye that you got from LASIK (dry eye is not a
young man's problem... it's an old woman's problem unless some idiot surgeon
happens to slash your corneal nerves). You also were responding to some
woman named Ilana and you thought her name was Hana. This means you can't
see. I can even see the differnce between Ilana and Hana and my vision is
terrible.

Consider some psychotherapy to get you through this denial phase and in to a
healthier way of dealing with your visual loss.

Most people who have Lasik can be argued to have worse vision than
prior to Lasik. Reduction isn contrast sensitivity, dry eye, haloes,
poor night vision.

Funny thing is that most of them are ecstatic that they had the
procedure. They have adapted and are willing to put up with the side
effects as the benefits outweigh the downside.

Fernando,

Obviously it's you who has the vision problem. If you "get" all this
info from my previous posts, you are really a moron. Denial phase? What
the f--- have you been smoking? I'll try English for you, I SEE
FINE!!!!!

Hey, I just noticed I can read the 20/12 line! But the letters are very
"hairy" and I have poor night vision that impedes my ability to drive
at night. Am I a "success" or a "failure," and why?

Don't drive at night Frank. Save your bitching for your surgeon. If
you think of yourself as a failure, you're a failure.
