| I hate to see mail like this, but this thing is still happening all too
often, even though SOME say problems with LASIK have been worked out.
If this is the case, why have Marguerite McDonald and Bill Trattler
stopped performing LASIK, Marguerite McDonald citing poorer visual
quality and problems inherent with the LASIK flap as the reason? Read
the patient story below. YES, it is a real person.
"Just to give you some background on my situation. I had the Custom
LASIK procedure performed on both of my eyes eight months ago and had
an enhancement operation performed two months ago on my right eye.
After my first procedure I was left unable to focus out of either eye
and with devastatingly poor night vision. As a result of my enhancement
surgery I am now near sighted in my right eye and am still unable to
see at night because of glare and flares coming from all sources of
light. Since having the first procedure done I have been unable to
work or function in almost all daily activities without great
difficulty if at all. Now with the prospect of losing my home, being
kicked out of my union, and with my savings long gone I'm at a loss as
to what to do now."

| More made up stories from the loonie of the day Tabby here.
She can't help herself.
BTW, Trattler has long preferred PRK or LASEK. Tabby's trying to twist
the real truth her own little way again.

| Sorry SE Rebel, but 10% of patients were dissatisfied with custom
wavefront in clinical trials. Cliical trials are performed by the best
doctors on the best candidates under the best of circumsances (because
they want approval).
LASIK damages every eye, and ruins many lives. Even Glenn doesn't deny
there are LASIK casualties. Gee, I should post some links of his
comments on other sites.

| Deny?! Heck, we study, evaluate, and report the quantity and type of
complications, how to prevent them, and what to do if they occur.
Even with an unresolved complication rate of 3%, that's a lot of
people who need assistance - even if it is usually temporary.

| That is completely false.
You are making up garbage.
And as for Glenn, Glenn is not pro-lasik. His numbers are more
negative than reality. Just not negative enough to make you happy.
I can't believe that there is anybody out there naive enough to
believe Tabby's nonsense.

| That 3% number is high and represents 6 months post op.
How about giving a 12 month post op number? That number doesn't exist
because by that time, virtually nobody has any further complaints
about their lasik procedure and they don't go back for any more
followups.
In fact, I don't even think that the 6 month/3% number can be
re-evaluated because new laws prohibit surgeons from giving out that
data anymore.
Incidentally.. the complaint rate for contact lens wearers is 5%.. and
they aren't getting free followups like the LASIK patents. They are
paying to come in with their complaints.
