Really? That is some good information!!!
One thing I don't understand is how they sell the goggles without a
doctor's prescription? Which brings up another question... every
drugstore sells hyperopic glasses off the racks.. yet they don't sell
myopic glasses off the racks... why?

Don't quote me on this.. but in Florida, I believe the Rx's on glasses
were good for 5 years and for 2 years on contacts. Then they changed
that to 7 years on glasses and 1 year on contacts. Florida is the
most screwed up legislature in the country though. We can't even
punch a hole in a card wthout getting the supreme court involved.

While on the topic of kids and eye correction... I have an adopted
relative that is significantly nearsighted. For reasons of vanity,
she refuses to wear her glasses and she can't tolerate contact lenses.
She is 14 and her grades have plummetted from A's to low C's in just
the past year. By law, the teachers are required to see that
students who wear glasses actually wear them. The teachers at her
school are aware of that and don't care. She goes to a private
"christian" school and they don't discipline the students at all.
They don't want to lose any students/customers.

Here's a good way to tell if a child needs to go to the eye doctor..
if they always sit less than 6 feet from the television screen, you
can bet that they are significantly nearsighted.
