| I corresponded with DrG just yesterday, lamenting his departure. I
get the feeling he does not miss the tirades around here.
I personally think the reason things have become so "dull" is that the
"Gang of Four" who consistently flood this newsgroup with anti-LASIK
propaganda and/or attack postings have been quiet.
It's amazing what litigation, a few injunctive orders, plus an ongoing
investigation by the FBI and the US Attorney's Office can do.

| Anti-LASIK 'propaganda' is totally unneccessary. Damaged patients and
current research on the negative consequences of LASIK surgery on the
eye speak for themselves! Other newsgroups post current research -
perhaps some of the more significant publications could be shared here
as well. Perhaps those with the education and intellect to appreciate
current peer-reviewed literature are so put off by the morons who lurk
here that sharing actual research in this forum seems like casting
pearls before swine. We need to remind ourselves that someone
considerig LASIK may stumble across this site - patients deserve
to know that LASIK reduces the mechanical strength of the cornea,
severs corneal nerves inducing dry eye, and induces distortions in the
cornea. Myopic LASIK flattens the front of the cornea, resulting in a
host of negative downstream consequences including reduced optical
quality of the eye, reduced tear film stability, and increased
difficulty (or even inability) to fit contact lenses to restore
pre-operative visual quality due to abnormal corneal topography.
Current research demonstrates fairly conclusively through objective
metrics such as post-mortem histology and confocal microscopy that
every eye is permanently damaged by the LASIK procedure. It is
medically unsound to perform this procedure on healthy eyes.
More to follow.
