"It is the tendency of the world around us to get even, to twist our
cleverness against us. Wherever we turn, we face the unintended
consequences of mechanical, chemical, biological, and medical
ingenuity."
- Edward Tenner, Author, "Why Things Bite Back: Technology and the
Revenge of Unintended Consequences"

For those considering LASIK, there is enough evidence now that LASIK is
biting back....ectasia, dry eyes, loss of contrast sensitivity (depth
perception).

WizKid: Which of your listed LASIK complications (ectasia, dry eyes,
loss of contrast sensitivity) have become worse - by percentage of
patients affected - in the last five years? How is LASIK causing loss
of depth perception? Please provide some sort of independent source
that affirms for your opinion.

When one goes to the ASCRS or AAO, one notices a basic insecurity with
Refractive Surgeons, almost as if they are waiting for the shoe to
drop. This is not surprising since LASIK has intoxicated the
profession. Someone needs to wake up and look at the facts. There is
nothing like the fall after being slayed by an ugly fact. The ugly fact
is that no matter how you cut it, LASIK is a flawed procedure. Yes,
there are many surgical procedures that are flawed but this one affects
a healthy eye and is irreversible. The law of unintended consequences
is lurking not only for the surgeons, but, unfortunately, for those who
have had LASIK, those who had the most to lose. WK
