At LVI, they use the cheaper to use "Nidek" system to do surface
ablation, and the VISX to do LASIK. Why do you go after Ladarvision
so much and let Nidek off the hook?

BTW.. the reason for the decentered ablations with Ladarvision is that
the pupils are dilated for surgery with that system. Pupils do not
dilate evenly, and it is much more difficult to find the center of a
large circle that a small one.

Most people's pupils dilate very evenly, but I have seen them dilate
into elliptical or in one case a triangular shape. Try and find the
center of those!

Brent Hanson again misrepresents. I do not promote any laser. Not one
over the other or even one to begin with. I simply related the facts
of the issue raised by Brent Hanson. If someone believes that the
facts promote a certain laser, or lasers in general, then that is
their opinion based upon the facts presented. I'm certainly not
promoting.

Yet again Brent Hanson attempts a red herring to divert attention from
the fact that he stated flatly that Kent Kirk lied, when there is
nothing in the material that Brent Hanson submits that affirms that
unfounded accusation. Brent Hanson falsely accused Dr. Kirk of lying
in the Chicago Fox News segment.

If you visit the FDA (http://www.fda.gov/cdrh/LASIK/lasers.htm) you
will see that all issues raised by the FDA regarding all currently
manufactured lasers have been satisfactorily resolved, all previously
approved lasers continue to maintain FDA approval, and patient
outcomes information from the clinical trials is available.

Brent Hanson misrepresents the facts. A review of the relevant
documents at the FDA affirms that the Alcon LADARVision 4000 excimer
laser is currently approved by the FDA. It is currently available for
purchase and use in the United States. Issues that have been raised by
the FDA (or the manufacturers for that matter) are either resolved or
being resolved. If desired, anyone can telephone the FDA toll free at
1-888-463-6332 and discuss the current status of any issue that
relates to any FDA approved excimer laser.

Why yes, Kent Kirk (CRSQA "certified" surgeon) did lie about the Alcon
LadarVision laser as was seen in the Fox News video.

Audio tapes of other CRSQA "certified" surgeons were played on the news
segment in which they were heard making complaints to Alcon's CEO about
the malfunctioning lasers.

1) Glenn Hagele lied when he claimed that Alcon lasers are just fine
and dandy.

2) Dr. Kent Kirk lied, and it turned out badly for him on Fox News in
Chicago.

3) Glenn Hagele lied again when he said that the problems with the
malfunctioning lasers were fixed, and that such documentation exists on
the FDA web site. Glenn Hagele cannot provide a URL for such a
document as no such documentation exists!

Yet again Brent Hanson of LasikFraud.com attempts to divert attention
from his misrepresentations and outright lies by making additional
statements that are not germane to the issue at hand and/or, are not
accurate.

Dr. Kent Kirk did not lie about the Alcon LADARVision 4000 excimer
laser in the Chicago Fox News segment. The transcript of the segment
is at http://www.foxchicago.com/_ezpost/data/16747.shtml Whether or
not the segment "turn out badly" for Dr. Kirk is a matter of opinion,
but from viewing the footage and reading the transcripts it is my
opinion that it did not "turn out badly" at all.

Whether or not other surgeons have expressed concerns about the laser
has nothing to do with Dr. Kirk's statements in the news article. This
is just another red herring from Bent Hanson.

I have not stated that Alcon's laser is "fine and dandy", nor have I
stated that it is not. What I have stated is that the documentation
with the FDA indicates that all raised concerns are resolved or are
being resolved. The Alcon LADARVision 4000 is currently FDA approved
for use in the United States. The laser is currently being
manufactured and meets FDA's requirements. It is the FDA that makes a
determination if the Alcon LADARVision 4000 is or is not "fine and
dandy".

I have provided the URL to the FDA website
(http://www.fda.gov/cdrh/LASIK/lasers.htm) where anyone who is
interested can see that the Alcon LADARVision 4000 is an FDA approved
excimer laser in good standing.

Hagele still claims that Dr. Kirk Kent (CRSQA "certified" surgeon did
not lie), and then provided a link to the transcript:
http://www.foxchicago.com/_ezpost/data/16747.shtml

Thanks to Hagele for providing a link that DOES prove Dr. Kirk lied to
Fox News. Let's examine the excerpts:

===================
Dr. Kirk's lie #1
===================

"Dr. Kirk: We're at the 95 percent range of people not needing to come
back, but 5 percent do."

===================
Dr. Kirk's lie #2
===================

"Dr. Kirk: There's just no way I would use a laser if I was getting
results that weren't what i felt would be the best results, no matter
what you paid for it. If there's a problem you stop right now and get a
different system."

"Yet this same Alcon document indicates Dr. Kirk performed 489
procedures with his Ladarvision laser in 2002--and that 95 of those
were retreatments. That's a 19.4 percent retreatment rate--nearly ten
percent above the FDA approval rate."

===================
Dr. Kirk's lie #3
===================

"Dr. Kirk: The numbers you see there don't correlate"

"Dr. Kirk says some of the people who needed retreatments in 2002 had
their original surgeries performed years earlier, or with a different
laser."

See Dr. Kirk do his "deer caught in the headlights" impression when he
gets caught lying on TV, by downloading the video here:
