Professional funny girl Kathy Griffin is no longer laughing. ET on
Yahoo reports that the actress may be losing the sight in her right eye
due to a condition called epithelial ingrowth, which she developed
after her third lasik surgery.

According to experts, Griffin's condition is rare but treatable and
occurs is less than one percent of lasik patients. Epithelial ingrowth
develops when epithelial cells start growing under the lasik flap,
causing discoloration and vision problems.

"There is only one reason I'm coming to you guys and that's honestly to
get the word out as a cautionary tale. " Griffin told ET's Mark
Steines. "I'm not getting anything out of this. I'm not getting any
money. I'm not suing anybody; I'm not doing it for publicity; I'm only
trying to tell my story, my opinions, my experience."

After Griffin's third lasik surgery in 2003, her doctor discovered the
condition and treated it by re-opening the flap to remove the suspect
cells, but the cells returned shortly thereafter. "I lost it," Griffin
said. "I lost it. I was sitting in his office crying, thinking I'm
going to lose my vision in my right eye."

Griffin is scheduled for another procedure within a few weeks and hopes
that she will be cured. "I hope that maybe I can get my vision back, or
maybe arrest it so it doesn't get any worse," Griffin said. "I really
don't know."

Katy Griffin is neither professional nor funny, and production on her
unfunny cable show has ceased, and she is currently divorcing her
husband who was her only true supporter.

That lunatic's case has been discussed extensively here, and that 9
month old story is way out of date. That other procedure you mention
was completed 8 months ago.

Griffin did this to herself. She's the celeb poster child for the
nutcases.

Did you know that she is officially black-listed from just about every
talk show there is? It's because she attacks other celebrities so
maliciously (and in an unfunny way). Jay Leno made one joke about
her appearance and she got extremely upset and wanted to sue.
She is like watching a trainwreck. The front cars are already
destroyed and the still moving working cars and inevitably doomed to
be dragged into the same quagmire.

Hang on here. She is losing her sight from a treatable condition????

Where do you get off posting this rubbish. Some psychotic woman who
geos for multiple procedures, gets some epithelial ingrowth and she is
losing her vision. This gets airplay on ET, for what reason?? You
stupid Americans must be aliens to watch that crap and more stupid to
believe it.

The truth is out there........

just not on ET.

Last time I checked, a bad case of epithelial ingrowth can be a serious
problem.

Kathy Griffin did not have a bad case of epithelial ingrowth until she
refused to respond to her doctor's office's multiple request for her
to come back in for follow-up. The ingrowth was diagnosed more early
enough that there was more than enough time for her doctor to resolve
the problem, but you cannot resolve a patient's problem without the
patient.

The moral to Kathy Griffin's story is that if your doctor says to come
in to the office, you had better get yourself to that office.

FYI: Griffin's primary surgeon and follow-up surgeon are both CRSQA
certified.
