Animals harm other animals only for survival. Refractive Surgeons harm
every eye on which they perform corneal refractive surgery, and they do
it because they can get rich. Ophthalmologists who stick to treating
naturally occuring diseases and do cataract surgery make a good living.
That's not enough for greedy refractive surgeons, who by now know that
refractive surgery does indeed harm every eye. But they keep doing it
for CASH.

Refractive surgery does not improve your visual QUALITY. It damages
your corneal nerves, thins your cornea and induces distortions in your
cornea that cannot be fixed by glasses. Will your surgeon explain all
this to you carefully so that you can make an informed decision about
your only pair of eyes, or will he gloss over these things and char and
scar you because he wants cash out of your pocket?

Yes, Refractive Surgeons are far worse than animals. Why would other
physicians consider Refractive Surgeons colleagues? As one [not
refractive] surgeon summed it up " they are not healers".

This is where you have gone too far. The vast majority of people who
have Lasik, never have a problem. Lasik is a procedure that works! My
visual quality is certainly better after Lasik. -6.50 is virtually
blind! Who is the surgeon who commented on his colleagues that "they
are not healers"? Anyone can make comments like that, but you have to
be able to back them up with facts. Your subject line is very emotive,
but it is simply not true. I hate to burst your bubble, but MOST
surgeons and doctors are in it for the money. However, that does not
mean that they are uncaring and unethical. Most people work to earn as
much money as they can and there is nothing really wrong with that. The
only exception to the rule would be doctors working for Doctors without
Borders and most of these only do it in short stints.

from the sounds of it, you want lasik and all refractive surgury
banned. What about cosmetic surgury like liposuction, brest, nose, lip,
etc jobs banned as well? All cosmetic and elective surguries are un
neccessary

Well stated Linda. Also, animals don't line up with chequebook in hand
to ask for elective surgery.

Last time I looked, doctors were not dragging spectacle wearers off the
street, making them sign over their life savings and blasting them with
coherent light just because they can. I seem to remember that the
public are demanding the doctors do the treatment.

Grant is right. Lasik is volunitary. There are a number of people not
properly informed about the risks but they chose to do lasik anyway.
Get properly informed about lasik and decide its for you and you have
only yourself to blame whatever its outcome. The surgeon is only doing
his job of bringing you closer to plano

People are warned of the risks. It's just the loons who claim people
are not.

I think you should reprhase your comments in the future. It's not an
issue of risks. It is an issue of whether or not LASIK is the
appropriate treatment for a particular patient.
I haven't picked on LVI for awhile.. they are due a shot. LVI sent
out a consultant who was telling everyone who walked through the door
that LASIK was perfect for them and promised them 100% success, etc.
She got a commission on every patient she got to sign up and she
wasn't about to let one fall through the cracks by being honest with
them. She got banned from that office after just 2 days of her
"consulting". She is the darling of LVI though.

Refractive surgery has been based on deception from the very beginning.
Clinical trials were done by Casebeer's company. Now there's an
objective firm for the job. Most of the data were left out of the
clinical trials because if patients actually KNEW what realistic
outcomes were they'd run screaming.

Linda, you have corneal nerve damage, a thinned bulging cornea,
increased corneal distortions and you didn't really understand any of
this going in.

Didn't you read on this site that Casebeer testified in a deposition
that all LASIK patients corneas are bulging?

Every refractive surgery patient gets nerve damage! Everybody gets a
bulging cornea! Everybody who gets LASIK has flap wrinkles! Everybody
who has LASIK gets junk under the flap! The LASIK flap never heals! A
medical doctor who would perform this procedure on someone for cash,
is, again... worse than an animal.

40% of RK patients are having problems with corneal thinning after
years have elapsed... wait till the LASIK patients have ectasia and dry
eye en masse. It's already beginning.

Go read at dryeyezone.com

Happy 20/20's suddenly get debilitating dry eye and have to wear
goggles years after surgery.

Happy 20/20's suddenly have visual deterioration.

If you have had LASIK, you are at risk for serious future
complications.

What medical literature do you cite to support your claims that I'm
full of it? If you believe that something
I said is incorrect, find something in a peer reviewed journal that
supports your position.

Good luck with that.
