| "What Schallhorn's and subsequent studies have shown is that pupil size
ALONE is a poor predictor of who will and who will not get night
vision problems (NVP) after refractive surgery."
"The fact that pupil size alone does not reliably predict who will and
who will not develop NVP does NOT by the wildest stretch of the
imagination mean that pupil size does not matter. It matters and it
matters a lot, but it is not the only factor that matters."
He hit it on the nail. Its not an absolute, but its realitvie. There is
no telling you if you will or wont develop significent loss of night
vision till you get the RS. Let me give you an analogy:
take two people speeding, one is doing 3mph over, the other is 10mph
over. Maybe none will get a ticket, maybe both will but the one doing
10mph over is at much higher risk. Same with huge pupils, your risks
are elevated. I have read alot of lasik diaries and its common
concensus to *make sure your ablation zone is NOT smaller than your
dilated pupils*
If someone has big 7mm pupils, his risks are no greater if his zone is
also 7mm as one with 5mm pupils and a 5mm zone. The real problems is
those with pupils larger than 8mm since theres no full zones that can
go past 8mm and blend zones arent full zones.
