I never see anything about PRK on top of LASIK. I know it's done.
How often is it done?

What risks are there with PRK over LASIK that don't exist with PRK on
a virgin cornea and how much more risk is there (1% more? 10% more?)?

How would PRK after LASIK likely effect dry eye? Would it improve
because the corneal nerves are closer or if the stroma (and epi) were
smoother afterwards?

Would it be better to lift a flap even if the flap is thin?

In a separate thread I read about the tolerance of microkeratomes, but
not a specific range. Across the entire flap, what is the average
variation in thickness and 2 standard deviation from the average
point? In other words, regardless of the flap thickness (160 or 130um
or whatever) what is the range of thicknesses across the flap? My
flap goes from 100um to 30um in thickness. Does this type of
variability happen in 20% of the cases? 10%? What causes it?

No replies? Is this a LASIK newsgroup?

How does one arrange one's affairs when they have younger children?
Financial affairs are one thing, but what about one's children?

My brother said that I should stick around even if I was blind. For a
while I thought he might be right. I don't know.

What do you think? If my vision and pain were so bad that I don't get
anything from being alive, should I still stick around for my
children's sake alone?

What would x do?

PRK over lasik is mostly done for flap complcations ie: striae.

BTW, do stick around for for your family's sake, sooner or later there
will be permanent fixes.

I had a flap complication on my left eye a month ago and have spent
the last month in a world I don't like to be in. Like you, I've found
there is very little info around the net about PRK over a flap.

However, I spoke to my opthamologist after he attended a conference a
few weeks back, and of the few cases that happen (hence the lack of
info) they have done some research on my particular situation of PRK
over buttonhole flaps.

Of 18 test cases, which had variable types of buttonhole
complications, all that were treated with PRK had fully successful
outcomes.

I'll let you know my outcome in a couple of weeks. I'm being zapped
on Monday, 13th Nov.
