Your premise ignores the fact that Lasik is an *elective* surgery. We
accept that a percentage of people will die from complications of
open-heart surgery. But, if one in a hundred (or two hundred) people died
on the operating table during liposuction, there would be no more
liposuction.
I need to do some more research. I need to determine who are the political
players and then I need to determine the hard numbers -- public money being
spent on disability and rehabilation claims.
