Nearly one year later

| I am a 56 yo male with the typical issues. Nov. of 2003 I had Lasik and was
delighted. The Doc did mono vision for me.... one eye eistance and the
other for reading.
At the time of and after the procedure I felt the reading eye could have
been sharper.... I have to hold the book or magazine approx. 24" away to be
clear as opposed to 14 - 17 inches. Of late I almost feel like I did when
I was trying to read w/o glasses (pre lasik).
First I thought I would see my eye doc. (not the lasik surgeon) and have my
eyes tested, then have my follow-up with the Lasik Doc.
Has anyone experienced this? Any thoughts ?

| Although a year is not a very long time, it is possible that your
presbyopia has progressed and the amount of myopia in your nondominant
monovision reading eye is no longer enough to give you the near vision
you desire.
If you were originally hyperopic, it is possible that the correction
has regressed, reducing the amount of myopia and the monovision
effect.
Your optometrist should be able to evaluate the amount of presbyopia
and myopia and compare this to your levels of one year ago. This will
probably show exactly what is happening.
It may be possible to have enhancement surgery to help with these
issues, but evaluate the potential risks and benefits of a second
surgery with the same veracity as you did the initial surgery.

Sounds like all went well. Good idea to see another doc for unbiased check.
