| I politely disagree with one particular point.
I do not believe that referring to a surgeon who has been
independently evaluated and certified in any way negatively reflects
on the rest of the industry or any other doctor. Our certification
and our 50 Tough Questions are designed to help patients find the
better doctors. Looking for a particular certification is one of many
methods to find the best, but it is not the only one, and the fact
that a doctor is not certified by our organization does not mean that
the doctor is a poor doctor. It only means that the doctor is not
certified by our organization. There are many reasons why a doctor
will or will not become CRSQA certified, and not all of them relate to
quality of care.
I think the best method is to visit a CRSQA Certified Refractive
Surgeon along with at least two others, using our 50 Tough Questions
For Your Doctor to help evaluate the uncertified surgeons. The
comparison of the doctors will help the patient decide where s/he is
most comfortable. That may or may not be the certified surgeon, but
at least the doctor who was willing to stand up to independent
scrutiny was included in the mix.
