| I went to see a new GP yesterday, what a lovely man, I was seeing him for
new insulin as they've stopped making my favourite one!! After sorting out
the main thing, I cautiously mentioned Lupus and how ill I am feeling and
all the symptoms that point to it being Lupus, he was great, for 1 he didn't
throw his hands up in horror at me researching on the internet. He did say
it is a terrible thing lupus, I told him I knew, but all my symptoms point
to that!! He asked again what happens when I go in the sun, and how
fatigued I get, he told me to come back in a while and in the meantime he
will, do some checking up about lupus and get back to me. I was so
impressed that he was at least willing to listen to me and not get mad at me
for even mentioning it. So I will wait for a couple of weeks to assess the
new insulin and give him time to do his research and go back and see him,
just maybe I will finally get an answer to all these horrible symptoms!!
Sorry its such a long post, just thought you'd all like to know how things
are with me.

you the "Greater than Thou" attitude...Hope all goes well with the new
insulin...

| Thanks Cindy, I won't get it until Wednesday, bank holiday on Monday and
husbands funny shifts!! LOL I'm sure it won't be a problem, the thing in
my life that gives me least problem is my diabetes, I've had it over 45
years!! Even though all Drs try to blame everything on that!! Janet

| Oh, Janet, I'm so happy for you that you have found someone who will
actually listen. I have one of those doctors who even allows me to manage my
own health in many ways. He admitted in the beginning that he had very
little knowledge of lupus but he sure does now! It makes such a difference
to have a such a doctor. Maybe now you will get some answers. Diabetes is
considered an autoimmune disease and lupus is just a wiggle down a different
path and they often intersect.
I think the hardest part is living and wondering what the heck is wrong all
the time. The Dx of lupus is no picnic but at least if you have a Dx then
you know what it is and how to proceed. Why don't you print out the check
list for lupus and take that with you to your next visit. And don't forget
to make a list of all your own little "quirks" and problems. You can also
give the doc several internet resources when you see him such as Andy's
pages http://www.northeastlupus.org.uk and the Lupus Foundation
www.lupus.org
I do hope the new insulin works well and you have no problems from it.
Three cheers for you and your new doc. Hip-hip-hooray, hip-hip-hooray,
hip-hip-hooray!

| Thanks Bev, he has one of Norfolk Lupus's posters so I think he will go to
our site anyway, I will start making a list of all my little quirks, it
could take some time!! lol He was very pleased with how I manage my
diabetes anyway so thats a good start, most Drs start out by blaming
everything I go with on that!! It made such a change to be told I was
looking after it well. Thanks again for the advice, I finally feel as
though I'm getting somewhere. Janet

| Janet, how great that you have found a doctor that made such a good
impression on the first visit! I hope that it is just the begining of a
doctor patient relationship that will bring you some answers and relief!
Hugs,
Sherry

I'll make sure he see's them both, along with www.norfolklupus.co.uk which I
maintain and run.....
Andy's site is an incredible resource.....The depth he's gone into with his
informative articles is fantastic, and the norfolklupus.co.uk logs are full
of referrals from the link he kindly added to his site pointing to ours....
I've said it before, and I'll say it again, Andy is a star !!!!!

More of an astronomer - I collect the light, but others are the stars
who generate it! The Lupus Factsheets are produced by Lupus UK, and the
Katfaq was written by KCat (wave-of-paw!).
