Author blood letting

I went this morning for my annual blood letting.
Doc called me this evening with the results.

Cholesterol is still up.
My white cell count was a little high (duh) but I don't think it was too
bad, it was only 1300.

They didn't do a sed rate because they didn't have enough blood. LOL

Everything else was fine except for my thyroid which was a little low (TSH
6.27) so he's going to give me something for it when I see him next
Thursday.

I guess I'm going to live.

That was nice of him to call the same day that you had the tests done! Keep
us posted on the thyroid etc.

My cholestrol runs on the high side too! Yrs ago I was on a medicine for it
and it kept me in the normal range....but started having troubles with it
causing really bad muscle pain. Went back on a different med a few months
ago and it did the same thing. I already have enough problems with pain
24/7 I sure don't need a medicine that makes me hurt more. So we just try
and watch our diet....which really isn't the problem. Oh well such is life
I guess.

Hugs,
Sherry

I'm so nervous about starting a new med. I never take meds well. But a part
of me is kind of excited - maybe I won't be so tired and maybe I'll feel
better.

He's had me on Zetia and my ins will not pay for it. So he keeps me in
samples. I've had no problems with it so far. I don't like statins. But my
diet lately has been terrible!

ASk about zetia Bev. It is relatively new and doesn't have the side effects
as statins do.

It helps lower the LDL which is bad cholesterol. I started on it and in 6
weeks my LDL dropped 36 points.
IS your total cholesterol high or is your LDL or HDL??? YOU actually NEEd to
know all of the results for acurate use of medications.
good luck and let me know.

I am also on lipitor but my cholesterol is acutally 153!!! first time in my
life and my LDL is only 63. IF you are high risk for heart your LDL should
be below the 90 and preferably below 70 if there is heart trouble in family
and your risk is really high. MINE is.
so get all the numbers and keep them for reference

let me know
bye

He's got me on Zetia, when I remember to take it. LOL My insurance won't
pay for it so he keeps me in samples.
The whole thing is high but the bad cholesterol is the problem. The good
cholesterol is within limits and the triglicerides are a tiny bit high. I
know my diet lately has sucked because of not eating properly when we are
working like dogs on the house. Quick to fix foods are not usually the best
things for me.
He'll test it again in a couple of months. Maybe if I can behave myself it
will come down more. I keep telling myself that I dropped it 100 points with
diet alone so if I get back to my diet it might drop even more and the Zetia
should help. I think this time the Zetia just kept it from climbing back up.

I also wonder if the thyroid med will have an effect on the cholesterol
since the thyroid effects the whole metabolism.

Absolutely the thyroid does. I had mine done like I told Paulette and I had
to drop a doseage in my thyroid medication. but that was after my
cholesterol dropped. I am on zetia as well as 20 of lipitor. HIGH risk here
cause of family and being on steriods since 93 ...YES that long.

so get it checked.
