| I Guys
My Hubby has a blood disorder called Hemochromotosis, he is monitored
every 3 months to make sure his iron is not to high and liver enzymes
are not elevated. He battled Hepatitis C 8 years ago and has been in
remission 7 years but has some liver damage due to that. Well yesterday
he went for appointment with dr. he does lab the week before and then dr
week later. They said his iron numbers have been raising slowly and last
week it was 200 not really suppose to be over 50. So they took a unit of
blood as this is how you treat it. and he will have to go each month the
rest of the year and have a unit taken. So it is just a little scary.
And like most all men he never says I feel crummy or anything. John is
the love of my life he has dealt with everything that has come up with
my Lupus with never a complaint but encourage and humor and love ( and
as some of you know is allot I have had a difficult case) I feel so
helpless and truly scared. This can be a debilitating disease and the
last thing in the world he would want is to have people waiting on him
or anything close to that. He is scared too didn't say it it was in his
eyes that is how you know with him Our daughter is still young for us to
have these health situations. That is our big concern. She still has 2
years of high school. Just starting to spread her wings.
So anyway just a little scarier everyday. I know compared to Katrina
and all that this may sound selfish and I am sorry just scary every where.

| There's nothing selfish about this at all, Cindy. Your loved one is ill,
that's worth as many prayers as any other trauma.
You have both been a blessing for each other, that is obvious. Ya'll are in
my thoughts and prayers.
love, kc

| Sorry I am late on this Cindy, but I certainly will keep your hubby in my
prayers. And I will continue to keep you and the family as well. This can
be controlled if monitored like the doctors want. I have big hope he will
be fine.
Hugs

| Nope, does not sound selfish at all.
My sis had Hep C. She said she "had" it because she is one of the very few
whose blood tests all
returned back to normal. Does hubby know how he contracted the Hep C?
I vaguely remember reading about Hemochromotisis and it sounds like it was
something which
was secondary to the Hep C? That sounds like he is having a rough time but
he sounds like
he has a good coach so his prayers have already been answered, haven't they?
What better medicine is there then the unconditional love of another.
Doctors have not learned to bottle it and it sure can be powerful!
My sis still has pain to her liver and drinks on occasion. I do not think
she should
drink at all!
God Bless you both and make you strong!
Always,

| Hi Cindy,
I think we worry more about any illness our partners may face, than we do
our own. I know how difficult your lupus has been and also the losses you
have faced in recent years. Your courage has always amazed me. The two of
you will make it through this challenge as well. Hubby is getting treatment,
so the doctor is on top of things. Thoughts and prayers are always coming
your way from here and will continue, with special ones for John as well.

| John did 52 weeks treatment of interferon for the hepc and has been in
remission over 7 years. He does not drink didn't that much before. They
are not sure how he got it. And I have been tested many times and never
showed positive some drs think partners can get it. He has a few
vitamins and herbs that he takes like milk thistle and Vitamin E
We also take fish oil. He drinks water with fresh lemon in it helps
cleans live it was 5 years ago friday that his Mom passed away and
yester day was her birthday and 5 years ago that day that my childhood/
lifelong(we started kindergarten together) best friends, son was killed
in car wreck he and my son were born 2 months apart they were 18 when
Tucker was killed they had been pen pales all their lives as we were
here in Texas and my friend still in my hometown so we were a little
elsewhere thought wise friday. So have to have a pint of blood taken was
a suprize but we rebound quickly and deal with it somewhere. We are both
Libra's so a little sensitive to stuff. maybe why we have been together
so long we know each other so well instinctively. Any who I am babbling
sorry.
My dang feet are swelling again hate to take that damn lasix does it
make anyone else sick??
Thanks Cindy

| I took lasix for a very short while as it never seemed to really help the
swelling, it being all Lupus related. Only thing helps is keeping the feet
propped up and not being on them long.
Are you the young lady who has spent 10 years trying to get SSDI? benefits?

| No I have not tried that fight yet , we have been thinking of it though.
I have taken lasix before and it didn't help but with this battle with
cellulitis it did where as keeping them up didn't too much. I just get
so sick and whoozy from it.
I think just so much going on , battle wise in my body that all tied in
a little having headaches too.
