| Went to my pain dr and talked to him for over an hour..... he put me on
thyroid medications- felt a small goiter.
I'm starting the HGHRH again.... hopefully, it won't be a financial burden
this time..... I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
I haven't picked up the thyroid med yet.....
OH, he also wants me to take really high doses of fish oil. He said fish
oil is BIG in the anti-aging world of medicine (he's a board certified
anti-aging dr) and they've discovered that it helps chronic illness. In
theory, since it works on the cellular level, it could stop autoimmune
diseases from progressing. He has a RA patient that's been able to cut back
on his MTX... pretty exciting. There are cosmetic benefits too... not to
mention, if nothing else, your heart will be happy. Fish oil helps to stop
inflammation and the drs now know many health problems are inflammatory in
nature.
I'm 29 now and to think with the HGHRH and fish oil, I could feel better...
is exciting.
I'm on a great med regime... so if I just lost weight and slept better, I'd
be happy.
Keeping my fingers crossed

| I have heard there are problems with taking too much fish oil and omega
three.
Plus there are brands that are NOT pure brands, so watch out. I see a
cardiologist and you do know that some omega 3's mess with blood? If you
are on any type of blood thinner or platelet drugs, or for that matter any
drugs that thin your blood, to prevent heart attacks. Call YOUR doctor for
the brand to buy and the type.
He or she may NOT want you to take it with some type of drugs.
I can't stress enough that you do not take medications with out approval of
your doctors.. Like herbs, vitamins, calcium, ANY OTC drugs.
With the make of some of the medications a lot of us are on, or should be
on, we can't risk taking a chance of any reaction.
some people think, oh well, this might be good, or I might try this since
so and so is on it. Don't do it. Always ask first please.
I am not knocking Nicole's doc or anyone's but Nicole is the only one
personally seeing her doctor we are not and good luck Nicole with this. I
know there are many anti inflammatories out there, many might be good, but
only your doctor will help you with that, and if you are not satisfied with
how you are being treated by that doc. Quit him or her and get someone
else.
But do not just add meds, or anything else to your body.
I don't mean to damper you day here folks LOL but that worries me a lot
when someone mentions this might be good. Thank them for it and then CALL
your doc and ask MORE questions. Then go get what YOU need.
Just because one thing works for one, MAY not work for another. I have
seen it happen and it is not a pretty site.
any more comments. Let's hear from "J"

| You need to "listen" from more informed sources.
I'm so tired of posting something about ME and then getting replies from
people who know not a damn thing about me or what MY doctor is treating me
for or how he is treating me. I mentioned what MY doctor what doing and you
took it as I was prescribing this to everyone. My ENTIRE post talks about
the discussion I had with MY doctor! Why are you turning it into a big
deal?
Good grief!
Now I guess we should tell those who survive mostly off the sea that they
better watch out and ask their doctor before consuming too much. Salmon and
Cod fish... dangerous food items there!
BTW, fish oil CONTAINS omega 3 fatty acids... just to clear that up for you.
Also, here's some actual research.. not something that I heard
Do a medline search.... 359 articles regarding the use of fish oil... read
some.
Does J need to approve this or something?
Q: Some experts say there's a concern about prolonged bleeding for people
who consume too much fish oil. Is that true?
A: Relative to prolonged bleeding, the published data indicates that up to
16 grams per day of Omega-3 fatty acids will have the same effect on
bleeding as taking 1 aspirin per day. Many clinical studies have found no
significant increase in bleeding times at a constant level of 10 grams of
Omega-3 fats per day.
Q: Are there potential side effects for some people who consume too much
fish oil?
A: Many of the side effects often observed come from lower quality fish oil.
Pharmaceutical-grade fish oil is detoxified and concentrated to give you the
highest levels of the essential fatty acids EPA and DHA with the lowest
levels of other materials in the oil.

I think you mistook me for slamming you for taking the stuff you are on. I
am "NOT" slamming you. Re read the post. I was making a point that no one
should take anything that others take without talking it over with your
doctors.
If your doctor approves that for "YOU" then by all means take it . But you
have to realize there are people that take other people word for things and
not find out much about an herb or drug.
I was NOT being "critical" of you by any means. I didn't think you were
prescribing this at all, I think you mentioned the fact that fish oils and
omega is taken by you and YOUR DOC told you too. Get that picture.
And for that matter what is THIS :"You need to "listen" from more informed
sources." You wrote it, not me.
If you reread my post signed rojakort, read the third paragraph where I
wished you GOOD LUCK!! an I was not being sarcastic.
sometimes posts are misread and I do believe YOU misinterpreted this one.
As far as me asking "Let's hear from "J"? Well she seems to have a lot of
sites with good information for us and she is usually right on with things
for us to know.
What the"H" is wrong with that?
Now drop this and return to gathering information for each of us and move
on with it. The "da--" lesson to be learned is this. "STILL ASK YOUR
OWN DOC WHAT IS GOOD FOR YOU" PERIOD.
enough already, this is an NG to help not piss people off.

| I hate fish. I don't eat fish. UCK. I might eat some tuna maybe once a year
or two years. I just don't do fish. My husband likes fish so I do prepare
it for him. I love shell fish etc but I can't eat it anymore without risking
an allergic reaction to it. They think it might be what the critter ate
before I ate him. So I don't do it.
I'm also not on any immune suppressant. I just chug-a-lug aspirin. I'd love
to find something that might help me without going the chemical route. I'm
afraid that someday my tummy is going to revolt over the aspirin I consume.
Actually since I've quit working and only been in school I have found I take
lots less aspirin. I have to remember to take my aspirin a day. I'm not sure
why. Maybe because I'm not bending down tying little shoe laces all day
long?

I do owe you an apology. I did and still do take some of the post as
slamming. I know you said you don't mean it that way and email is difficult
due to the lack of visual emotion.... don't worry about it... I am
responding to a few items but I'm done.
> And for that matter what is THIS :"You need to "listen" from more

That was in reference to the line where you wrote "I have heard there are
problems with taking too much fish oil and omega three."
> As far as me asking "Let's hear from "J"? Well she seems to have a lot of

What the hell is wrong with that? It sounds like what I wrote, my
experience, isn't legit until J approves it. Anyone can google and find a
website... so I'm not sure why J gives the final yay or nay.
Before I even started the fish oil, I certainly looked into its use. I only
read information from actual journal articles to see what's really
happening, not just what webmd or something similar suggests. I even posted
answers regarding the 2 concerns you had.... it's disheartening knowing that
when I write something that it has to be "approved" by someone else. This
isn't the first time I've seen it happen and it won't be the last I'm sure.
As it is, no one really knows what will happen with any medications or
supplements we take. This damn disease just messes with everything. In 10
yrs, we may find out vitamin c is bad for you. Who knows.

| rojakort 2005-08-04, 11:53 am |
| Well Nicole, I guess this has to go one more time LOL
My informed sources I "listened" to happen to be from a cardiologist I see,
as well as the cardiologist my sister sees, who happens to be one
medications that are contradictory to using too much of omega three. Plus
I have a brother who had open heart surgery and he also has the same
cardiologist I see. Now our whole family has heart problems, so I believe
that "SOURCE" LOL is pretty good for me. That was where the "from where I
heard". Plus my nursing journals that I frequent. If I can find that
article and more I will put it in here.
Now believe this, there was no slamming and I did not mean that "J" is the
final word on any post. I just meant that she indeed posts sites that we
can look into. I myself do that on here. As well as other people. It was
something that popped into my head that "J" might be able to find us more
information right away. She seems to do that well and I give her a lot of
credit. she is a good person.
But as her being the final say, Oh no by no means, NO OFFENSE J LOL, but
she will tell you that she is not a doctor and some of the things we ALL
post are OUR OPINIONS with no offense to anyone. We all should thank her
for the time she takes to help us all out. Right folks?
I am glad you are doing well on the fish oil, and glad you talk to your
doctors. As I do too. So sharing your info and sharing my info is only for
the good of all of us.
Please do not feel disheartened that you have to be approved. YOU DO NOT,
so you were the one that read into that wrong.
Tis true lots of things are bad, so post it, let each take it for what it
is worth and find out for ourselves by again, Running it by our
doctors....that was the main theme for my post from the beginning. NOT to
make you feel like you had to be ok'd by anyone or slamming you at all.
Get it now?
enough already, back to the basics of this NG...
And with my headache this is enough for me.
have a great day and smile, all of us need each other no matter what we
believe or feel. That is what makes life good. If we al held the same
opinion, hell we would make ourselves crazier LOL
