CGT- I'm so proud!

| Ok, it's OT but I'm so proud of myself. For starters my grades have been A's
in all my classes. But OTOH it seems I do nothing but schoolwork when we are
not working on the kitchen. But as for my CGT we had an assignment in
Creative Writing to take music and have it inspire us to write something.
I listened to a couple of instrumental pieces I have at home and thought
about what I could write. I finally settled on a Celtic piece figuring that
it wouldn't bore this young class as much as something more classical. (I am
the old lady in there.) I wrote a little poem and decided it was all rather
boring. So I sat down and worked out a PowerPoint presentation using lots of
my photos. Well, that blew the poem away, it no longer worked with my
photos. Instead I put together some simple thoughts and placed them on the
photos and than ran the whole thing syncopated to the music. That saved me
from standing in front of the room reading a silly poem. Well, it is a
creative writing class and so I got creative. Besides my inclination is to
attempt to sing to music and, well, my husband swears I'm only allowed to
sing in the closet with a pillow stuffed in my mouth.
So I go to class and I have to use the computer in the room. It's a cool
gizmo that is connected to an overhead projector that throws what is on the
monitor up to a screen in the front of the room. The professor made me go
first because I had this complicated thing and I had it already set up. (To
him if it involves using a computer it must be complicated.) So I started my
PowerPoint presentation and he had me stop while he went to get the dean of
the college because he wanted her to see it.
So she comes back and I start the thing over again. The class was absolutely
silent through the whole thing, six minutes and forty seconds. When it was
finished the class broke into an applause and the professor ran over and
hugged me. (I was startled and shocked that he did that!) I guess that means
I got an A.
I guess it was worth all the hours it took me to do it - and it took
forever! I called it "Sunrise" and took a bunch of sunset photos I had and
placed them in backward order so it looked like the sun was rising. Then I
took a bunch of flower pictures and wrote some corny stuff about mirroring
the sun's colors, etc. With the music it worked just fine without it the
whole thing would fall flat on it's face. No danger here of my becoming a
song writer. LOL
And you wonder why you haven't heard much from me? Next big project, term
paper, Gothicism and Poe's Fall of the House of Usher.OMG! I sit down to
read assignments and fall asleep. Maybe if I'd quit falling asleep I'd get
more done. LOL

Maybe an A++
When I read your post, my imagination ran away with me.
I wonder how long "shorts" at Cannes film festival have to be ?
I saw you as the creative one in the apprentice (Donald Trump TV show) doing
presentations to his clients, organizing events, getting big bucks.
TV, film productions; promotions and advertising..
Somewhere there's a big paying place for your creativity and skills.
I know it.

| Way to go Bev, what a smarty pants you are, and I mean that is a "GOOD" way
woman.
Is there a way you can send that presentation to me? You got it on
computer?? I have DSL.
Plus sorry I missed your phone call. Went to NE Tenn for a week and enjoyed
it immensely. We drove via through Virginia and W V on the way home, man
them roads are NOT for driving an RV, curves make you sick to tummy. Feels
like going to go over the edge. Worse than the Smokies
enough of me

| I can't send it via email. It is 76,000 KB so it will gag any sever. I'm
looking for another way. Or maybe I'll just have to drop it to disk and let
everyone see it that way. It's so corny. Are you sure you want to see it?

| Yes, I really would like to see it Bev; could you 'zip' it with winzip? it
makes it a smaller pkg. and easier to send.... most windows users have a
winzip for it if you zip it most of us can access it.....

Wow! Silence, then applause from the class probably means more than the
hug from the prof. But it's a pretty major thing when the prof asks a
higher up to come see a presentation. Congratulations on your hard work!

| It's a little college. The dean is a really nice person and very accessible.
Everyone in this class is there because they want to be not because they
need it for their degree. So it was really neat to get that reaction from
the class. I think the oldest person, next to me, is probably 30 YO. So it
is a very young class. There are also some very talented kids in there.
We have to critique each other and one guy wrote some fantastic stuff but he
can't read his own work in front of the class without getting tongue tied.
He's NOT a public speaker. I said it was great he just needed Anthony Quinn
to read it. Nobody but the prof know who I was talking about. LOL
I do love that class. But my doing PowerPoint.....I think that might have
been my third time ever using it in the last 5 years. So I was proud that I
did manage it even if it is a little corny. LOL
