| I just got home from the rheumy who informed me SHE found doses of
injectible metho for me.
I also found out more bone loss was noted on the dexa scan from last year
so she tells me I have to go on metho and get off the medrol for sure. I
have been having more problems and more flares but I refused to get that
cortisone shot to tied me over.
Sed rate up and more pain. BUT I went and got the injections and will
start them tonight.
Anyone have ideas on HOW to help me here with possible side effects of what
I need to remember with this? Nurse Or not this is new to me
hugs

| Okay Janers,
You and I are on the same crusade here (as far as lupus goes). How much
Medrol are you on? I take prednisone, and just today am making another
0.5mg decrease, so my dose will now be 8.5mg/day. As far as the bone
density, I was osteopenic about 3 years ago, and started taking Fosamax. I
wasn't taking it every day (as it was prescribed back then), but then they
found out that once a week is all that is needed. It is hard on the stomach
and potentially on the esophagus, but it really is a wonder drug for the
bones. I will not ever be able to take estrogen, so I am happy I can take
care of my bones with Fossamax.
The side effects with Methotrexate are not much at the dose I am taking
(7.5mg/week) hair loss, headaches and nausea, mainly. But it is worth it to
me.
I hope you find it as helpful as I do....

Yes, and I have been told that straight Cola syrup is one of the best things
for nausea... I buy it at the drugstore where it is sold as an anti-emetic.
Also I heard somewhere that ginger is good. Flat ginger ale. Well, I don't
visit the soda aisle in the market, but I keep candied ginger for Chinese
cooking. I threw a couple of pieces of that in the blender with some water,
and sweetened it a little more... it worked great, so there is another
option to try...
Hope this helps

| Hi Janers,
You know me. I am clueless, so I can't help you with info one side effects.
I just wanted to say that I hope this really works for you and that you

That coincides with what I just took on the plane coming home yesterday....
I was feeling queasy and had no gravol so on the stopover MOTH quickly ran
in and looked at the airport shops, finding a natural 'anti nausea' source,
and it is called 'gravol' as well, and the base was ginger.... it has no
drowsy side effects or bad effects of any kind and it really worked well for
the next leg of the trip for us both!
Ginger and I don't usually get along <burp> but in this case it really
worked and well!
hugs,
Shelagh

| i have a little story about a time when i had to stop at a roadstop and
turned out i was sick on both ends. As i made haste for the bathroom and
made it unfit for man nor beast, i finally was able to get to a point where
i could rise and return back to the truck. But only for the time it took to
sit down and then i barfed on the tarmac. Shortly after, as i hung my head
over the steering wheel and raised one eyelid to see if anyone was staring
at me, two grand old ladies strutted by, arm in arm.
One gentile lady remarked, "Oh look Gladys, someone's been sick."
The other followed up with some advice, "Maybe they should have had a
Sprite."
At that point I was wondering if I had fallen into some other dimension of
tv commercials and vaguely my head bobbed up again to watch the elderly
women marching off to the restroom.
I thought to myself, "I wouldn't go in there if i were you."
Then i noticed the soda machines. They were over 100 feet away by the
picnic tables. I cranked up the truck and drove the short distance to them.
I popped in 50¢ and out popped a ice-cold Sprite.
I sipped it and fairly soon thereafter, I began to feel well enough to
continue on with the road trip.
Hey, maybe you shoulda bought a Sprite?

| Hey Janers,
can you update me as to why you are injecting the Methotrexate?
How much you taking. And will pray for your quick return to wellness!
Don't forget to sip the Sprite.
